Exhaust smell in cabin on cold starts

So I've recently started smelling some exhaust gases in the cabin upon cold starting my 328d. It seems like it's coming through the air vents. It's not horrible like it was in my MK5 Jetta but I can definitely smell it. Curious if anyone else has experienced this and what It might be related to.

Also, If it's a problem with the EGR, would the EGR cooler recall cover this or would I be paying out of pocket?

That would most likely be the egr cooler bypass pipe, part of the cooler, yes.
If you haven't gone for the EGR recall, you should, they may inspect and replace.
Although the recall is for internal coolant leaks.

Very likely to be a crack in the EGR corrugated pipe - it's a common fault, and exactly the problem when I could smell fumes in the cabin of my 330d.

I've made phone calls to several dealerships over the past year asking about the recall and each one has told me the parts aren't available yet. I've given my info and asked to be contacted back and still nothing. It's ridiculous how long it's taking.

My local dealers have been installing and doing the recall for quite a while now.

Lol, that wasn't me flexing any, I'm really curious why some dealers seem to be able to get it done, while others are quite passive.

Not sure, perhaps there's a big waiting list. I'm going to try to contact a few more dealers this week and see if my luck changes.

Called another dealer and they said they weren't allowed to stock the parts and they'd have to be ordered on a case by case basis so I'll have to bring the car in for an inspection before they can do anything about it.

Yes, that is correct. They should set you up with a loaner too

I’ve started smelling it as well in my F31 328d. Not sure if the recall work had been done or if related. Will report back when I hear something.

I got my car back from recall, no replacement parts needed. Smell went away after. Weird.
