F34 trunk hatch failure

I tried to open the hatch on my 2014 F34 today and was greeted with a whirring motor sound using the fob and the button in the cockpit. I dropped the rear seats, climbed in, and pulled the emergency release cable which unlatched, but didn’t lift. After that, the fob lifted the hatch. When I used the hatch button to close the trunk, it worked but it didn’t do the little 1” soft close.

Does anybody have any suggestions they can share? I’m in CA, so scheduling an appointment is going to take weeks due to the shelter in place orders. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks!
