I have no experience with tree sap left there for a month... but you can try cleaning thoroughly... clay bar, then using compound (red foam/don't cut too much right away... slowly).then sealant or polishing wax.

You can try Stoner's Tarminator, Automotive Goo Gone or even try WD40. Thats weird that its only on your roof and hood though.

Looks like paint damage from bird crap or other chemical fallout. If it doesn't come off with hot water or even a harsh cleaning, then I'm thinking repaint.

You parked under a tree. Is it squirrel mating season where you are? Looks like there was a bit of squirrel action on your car.

Looks like paint damage from something that eats through paint, in a few places you can see what look like dimples in the paint?
To me it looks blistered and I’d guess that it won’t clean off. |

Please don't use an abrasive to try and remove tree sap. Remember that your clear coat is only so thick. Claying won't do much if anything if it's been on there for weeks. That would be wasted effort. Use a chemical solution along with some elbow grease. Goof Off or Goo Gone will remove it with a little patience. As for not being on your windows, no clue why it's not on there. Pretty sure it is sap though.

That was my thought as well. If it’s not the original paint, then I would suspect this since there’s no foreign substance on the moon roof glass. Looks like chicken pox blisters, a new BMW infection.

Not entirely sure, but it does look like tree sap. Question is why were you parked under a tree for a month? Surely you had to of noticed it at some point?

My first reaction was bubbling up from underneath, too. If it is on the surface, perhaps try Turpentine (test that in a small area on a fender lip or something to make sure it will not harm the clear coat.
