Will this fit?
Hi guys,
I have a 2018 440 xdrive with 704m wheels, staggered setup from factory. I picked up a new set of tires that are slightly larger but through more research I am seeing that the rears are technically out of spec.. I have called around to many diff places and read many different threads with opinions being split down the middle The tires are 235 40 R19 and 265 35 R19. the rims are 19x8 et 36 and 19x8.5 et 47 respectively. I understand the fronts are fine but that rear size should be on a 19x9 minimum. If it matters the tires are Conti DWS06 Should i return the tires and just stick with a stock setup? Is this a none issue and just throw em on? is there anything wrong with this setup mechanically or aesthetically speaking? |

Will a 265 fit on the 8.5" rim - technically yes. Will it drive properly - possibly no. Having too wide of a tire for a rim will cause it to squirm around when taking turns. If you drive your car aggressive you will definitely feel it. If you only casually drive you probably won't notice any negatives.

Thanks for the response Weehee. I think im going to take them back while i still can and get something within spec for peace of mind. Id still like to get a bit thicker of a tire in the front. Do you see anything wrong with a 245/35/19 up front and a 255/35/19 in the rear?
Never mind. Seeing in a calculator that this setup would be just above %1 in rolling diameter. Just gonna stick with stock. Last edited by Brandon2382; 03-31-2024 at 08:24 AM.. |

FWIW - quite a few of us have run the 245/35-255/35 combo on the factory staggered 19s for better handling performance. The stock 225/40 fronts really are a bit too narrow.. It’s close enough to the 1% for AWD (check specific tire brands/models for their exact diameters vs the standard calculator measures).

Edit: By the way you were correct, the calculator i was using did not have the same spec as the manufacturer. Manufacturer diameter would put it in %1, Thanks. Last edited by Brandon2382; 03-31-2024 at 09:53 AM.. |

26.0/25.8 = 1.007, that should be fine. Revs Per Mile difference is only 8. |
