Thoughts on first basic mods on 320i?
So far I replaced the grill with a black one, upgraded mirrors, blacked out the rear defuser, and installed a CS spoiler, and debadged. I haven't had the car long so these are the first of many things I plan to do with the car. Here's what I'd like to do next.
0. I'm buying style 442's 19' rims from my friend with a 435i Msport in 2 weeks. http://wheelflip.com/listing/4377/bm...9x85-47-5x120/ 1. Wrap the roof gloss black. (Looking for a shop in orlando with a good price) 2. Order these DEPO headlights: https://www.kiesmotorsports.com/prod...32159324733525 3. Order GTS Style taillights: https://bayoptiks.com/collections/ta...cles-pre-order 4. Roof Spoiler: https://www.google.com/shopping/prod...RgMAhUQ8wIIkAQ 5. Order 4 series boomerang side skirt replicas. (I'm a little iffy on this but I like the look) https://ind-distribution.com/product...ender-trim-set 6.Full Msport body kit: https://www.aeuroplug.com/products/b...l-complete-kit 7. Start hitting up Tampa Bimmer meets again What're your thoughts? I know its just a 320i, and I'm not trying to pretend its a M3 and I know to stay in my lane when it comes to that, I just want to make it look nice and photoshoot worthy if that makes sense? I was also thinking about getting the U style headlights instead of DEPO's but I heard you can see the LED's and they look cheap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/18381309963...kcid=28&chn=ps Last edited by NOCTERNAL123; 01-18-2021 at 02:12 PM.. |

Very nice enjoy the new ride!
Regarding head lights, have you thought about Bayoptiks or OSS Designs custom head lights? They're not cheap but they look awesome. OSS Designs seems to have more options if you go that route. The "U" headlights look great if you get OEM BMW "icons." You definitely can't see the LED's with the OEM ones but they're certainly not cheap. I have the "icons" on my F32 and they look wonderful during the day or at dusk before your low beams come on. |

Depends on what you're looking to get out of the car long term. Are you going to hold on to the car? Do you think you'll want something with more power? That's alot of money to spend and you likely won't get much of a return on it in the event that you decide to move on.
The above aside, outside of aesthetics I'd recommend BM3 Stage 1 and a chargepipe. Will make it feel closer to a 328. |

I would skip the boomerang trim, but everything else looks good.

Thanks man! So far I'm loving it! I ended up going from a e90 328i to the 320i, because I know back then the 328i was always the most reliable, so I figured I'd get the 320i for the same reasons, (I could be wrong since its a new gen) But yeah, the OEM icons look amazing in person, Does OSS and Bayoptiks have good looking ones?

You can flash Bootmod3 yourself for $500 for the license from Kies and $20 in an OBDI to Ethernet adapter to plug into your PC. I've got a quote in hand from a local shop for $608.99 for a charge pipe swap, but they want $345 in labor which is probably a little high for the job. BM3 was a HUGE performance boost for me 328.
AFAIK, both the headlight and taillight swaps are going to be pretty stiff in labor costs to install. An M sport body kit is likewise going to be a pretty hefty expense.. my guess is you'll be (possibly WELL) over $4,000 in parts and labor to make your car look like a $3,500 factory option, all while adding only marginal resale value. And if thats the case, you should seriously consider just looking for a 320 or 328 with similar mileage but with the M Sport package or at least the Sportline package. Not trying to be a debbie downer but that is just going to be a TON of money to pour into a car that frankly it sounds like you won't be holding on to for very long (lets be real, if you go lease a new 440, do you realllllly think you'll be spending much time in a 320i dressed up to look fast?) Basically, since you already have a loan on this vehicle it sounds like, you are going to be putting yourself WAY underwater on this car when it sounds like you are already dreaming of the next one. Also I'll just note you seem to be planning on installing three rear spoilers and two sets of side skirts if you are doing a full m style conversion |

Couldn't you find a car already equipped as you wanted it. Retrofitting is usually more expensive.
Nice setup.

since you're thinking of getting a 4Series in the future, why don't you just keep your 3series stock and just enjoy it. save your money to use for your 4 series.

Congrats on the new car, i was in the same position about a year ago with my 328i, I decided to mod it out and have gotten my roof wrapped gloss black, added m3 retrofitted front bumper and m sport side skirts and rear bumper, and i have depos and a 6k kenson hid kit, and so much more, still stock performance wise i dont regret modding it out but i will say if you want power this is not the engine for it and if you plan on getting a 4 series i would just keep the 320 stock and putting all the money into the n55 or b58 whichever you choose, and i plan on trading mine in within a year for a n55/b58 with a 6 speed but if you dont plan on wanting power the n20/n26 is a great sleeper car for what it is and from what I’ve heard stage 2 fbo makes this thing a beast!

I would do suspension above all else for both aesthetics and driving experience.
I would skip the 4 series and get a completely different car. As someone who had both a 3 and 4 series in the garage at one point (one was a long term loaner for my other bimmer which was in the middle of getting bought back by BMW) there is no point. They drive nearly identically, they are the same on the inside, and it's a very boring garage. Get something that provides a different driving experience. This is why I have an M3 CS, an i3, a small coupe, and an SUV. They are all unique and it keeps things interesting.
