Information needed. Expanding rivet or screw?
The car is a 2014 335i M sport I’m trying to figure out which type of fastener is needed for securing the bumper cover to an underbody adapter. The pieces were missing when I bought the car. I bought the black 8mm screws but C clip nuts don’t fit over the wholes. That makes me think an expanding rivet is needed. If someone with a similar intact car could look at theirs and let me know what fastener is used and maybe even add a picture I would really appreciate it.

Didn't you already ask that in your other post when you are going through this ordeal?
Short answer, looks like push rivets since there is nothing to screw into. The front is a combination of screws and rivets. |

For mine, not necessarily yours. Every part number you'll ever need. Start at the top; enter your vin; go to town.

Yes, I asked a lot of questions in my previous post and received a lot of useful responses. However, I’m still uncertain about the appropriate fasteners and thought it would be more productive to solicit information for this specific inquiry.

Looks like #15 and #19. You need to spend a lot of time on realoem to 'feel' it. I'm sure yours will be similar.

Easiest way to find out is find another similar car in a parking lot, and snap off a pic under the front bumper.
If you were going by the dirt markers, the front 2 look like they are the wider fasteners (#19). Not sure since I did a lip to mine, but my front 2 are the fasteners, then next 2 (that you have fasteners in) are push rivets. |

IIRC, the BMW instructions for installing their MP splitter shows the original fasteners with locations across the lower front of the bumper (for removal/reinstall). Maybe get a copy of that to use for reference? I like the ‘snap some under bumper pics of similar cars’ idea too.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LZas3Jfw2BI&t=636s at 10:50 he starts removing the expanding rivets. I don’t see any rivets on realoem that exactly match those he’s removing but number 18 on this diagram looks pretty close. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...66#51118068130 |

I have an M Sport bumper and just removed those rivets a few days ago. They look like #20 with the smaller head. Attached pic is from the realoem part list Steve L posted.
