Just to be sure, did you seat the optical cable into the new quadlock?

Reseat the quadlock connectors again.

Also check which location the optical cable is in. there's 2 spots for it, needs to be on the connection closest to the edge of the connector

Hello friends,

A little over 1 year ago I put a 10.25 ”Chinese screen on my bmw e84 with android 8.1

Everything was working fine, but a couple of days ago it was stuck and I had to turn off the car to restart it and yesterday it did it again.

This morning I got in touch with the aliexpress vendor to comment on everything and he told me to update the MCU and he sent me a file, mcuupdate.bin ...
So I put it in a Pen and it updated perfect, it reached 100% and when it turned off .. it has not turned on again ....

I tell the seller, he sends me another file: px6_format.zip saying that with that it restarts and everything remains the same.

Does nothing. The only thing that adds two folders to the usb, android and logs .. (signal that is still alive)

The seller doesn't answer me anymore ...

Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?

Pd: I pay whoever comes up with the solution.

So I'm on my second unit. First unit didn't work with the 2019 evo system (I have a 2019 F56 mini cooper S) The second unit arrived yesterday and the description says it works with evo system but today after surprisingly getting real time tech support (With broken English) from the seller all I get is a blank screen when I hold down the menu button. We tried all kinds of combos with the Dip Switches. I can feel the MMI kinda click when i hold down the menu button as if its activating but nothing happens. I know mini made some upgrades to the system starting with 2019 (mini connected). I cant imagine there wouldnt be a product out by now that addresses that. If anyone has any ideas or knows of a MMI that works with my system please let me know. I know Apple carplay works automatically with my system, I'm looking for the android features. EDIT: After playing with the dipswitch combinations I got it to work. On mine it was 2,3,4 and 7 on and 1,5,6 and 8 off. I can confirm this model works with the EVO system. Guys, i am worried a bit because i found a security issue there.

When you're using MMI anyone can pair to it by bluetooth. After few days in traffic jam i had on paired devices few foreign cellphones

I tested that in the garage and only confirmed, when you are in traffic or MMI just have the power then its spreading BT network and anyone can pair with your MMI without your confirmation.

F06 with CIC, trying to install Andream.

Initially, I had issues connecting my new Andream box to the head unit. Followed the instructions but would just end up with an orange screen. Gave it another go today and swapped the LVDS cables around - the screen turns on as it should.
I can see a new carplay wifi network and connect to it but the unit won't come up in the bluetooth devices (not sure if it's important at this stage).

I am now having issues with the idrive controller. If I follow the instructions ("connect 1" option) it just does not work, at all.

If I do the "connect 3" wiring option the controller works as it should, but won't trigger the Andream menu by holding the menu button.



Is there any way to check if the unit is even working, powering up and all that? I'm guessing the car play wifi network is an indication that the unit is running?

You have an Andream A. You can flash the latest custom mod. I know because mine was the same.

Hi sobanoodle its likely you have ordered a CIC unit for your car, but probably should have ordered a NBT unit. As far as I am aware all F series cars run a CIC-HIGH which is basically a NBT unit with regards to canbus and screen output. I always have used NBT units when retrofitting into F series with CIC units. CIC units should only be used for E series cars.

The seller asked me what type of LVDS cable I have and it is clearly a 4pin one.
From what I've read you cannot use a NBT MMI unit in CIC cars?
The harness has different connection options that include cic high, cic low and something dvd. See my snap above. Thought this would be way easier dammit :/

Hi all

(Andream A type MMI)

as the title states my screen went black right after i flashed the MCU to:

MCU 20.06.02 custom (only flashable on v2.0.x0.mod)

As per instructions I installed v2.0.B0.mod (for BMW) (no PIN) (Cross compatible) (based on: v2.0.2.7t0.mmi.b) first which resulted in "No Signal" immediately and nothing for a while until I restarted the unit. Afterwards it worked perfectly fine and so I decided to flash the MCU. It found the file, there was a quick flash on the screen to say it's updating and then it just went blank. I am now unable to get it to switch on no matter what. The Back and Menu buttons have no effect on the unit.

The MMI unit is still functional as can be determined by the blue flashing light inside of it.

My dip switches are 1,2,3-ON, 4-7 OFF

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned whether a "bimmertech dip switch needs flicking" as part of this MCU update but I wasn't able to find anyone answer that question.

Any help would be appreciated as currently I seem to have a brick on my hands

You had a very ancient software. The 'No signal' after your first flash happened because your version didn't have the update screen yet. I think they added it in the version after yours.
Was the custom version running properly before you attempted to flash the MCU? If so, try an earlier version of a Bimmertech MCU.

If you come from a very old update there might be issues if you flash directly to the latest version.

The custom firmware was running really smoothly prior to attempting to flash the MCU.

Do I understand correctly that I must force flash the MCU to some earlier release? Or do I force flash to an earlier software version and then do incremental updates of both? Is there a way to force flash an MCU even?

As stated before the MMI doesn't respond to any input at the moment.

Yes, that's correct.
I don't know where it went wrong with your unit so you might want to try both (MCU and Software).

Well that didn't work. Tried a couple of previous versions on Andream software and also bimmertech MCU but it seems to completely ignore my pressing of the back button

Any other ways of forcing it to downgrade or reflash without utilising the back button?

Not the AliExpress shop I got mine from.
I’d ask them what version they’re selling with. Cheapest doesn’t mean best, comparatively speaking since they’re almost all the same units from China. IMHO

Got in touch with Andream and they are suggesting the unit is bricked. I would appreciate any ideas before I have to designate this unit to landfill.

NOTE/TIP for the OEM camera: turn OFF "Reverse Track" which is looking for a reverse trigger signal to automatically switch back to the OEM camera (on iDrive).
