True Tomtom is the best, navigation, speech quality and owns Teleatlas maps. Forget Waze, Google and Apple Maps. If you want the best avigation it's Tomtom. I do the paid version for Carplay.

I use CarPlay now, but used Android Auto for a while. The only latency I notice in my old F30 is when I do voice commands like "Hey Google!" or "Hey Siri". But that latency is there when I do voice via bluetooth (calls) on the OEM. So, I do not think there is any noticeable latency introduced by the MMI on the navigation voice and graphics when it runs.

CarPlay is stable for me. I do not recall any stability issues with AA (for me). At times it may not reconnect after the car was shutdown for a shorter period of time. I suspect it to be lousy coding in the MMI. Some people have issues with crashes, depending on brand, firmware version. Cannot tell you what percentage. But I assume people post here when they have a problem and not when it works fine. If you are deciding if worth the $240 and install effort: depends on what you have. If you only have OEM nav and it's NBT then yes, by all means, it's worth it.

I rolled back the firmware on my POCO X3 PRO and got android 11. The problem of disconnecting the phone from the MMI in places of a bad mobile network has gone away.

When using carplay, you need to turn off the Bluetooth of the original car, otherwise, when you call Siri, the call may be transferred to the Bluetooth of the original car, and you may wake up the voice navigation of the original car, so Siri cannot Your voice has been recognized.

From what I understand, the EVO box don't seem to work through AUX. Instead, via a USB audio box. My friend bought their EVO box.

Go to your phone settings, search android auto and select android auto settings, then check what is set under Day/Night stand for maps, it should be set to auto. That wasn't the case for me with default setting, which is strange indeed, but now I set it to auto works fine, as soon as my car lights go on, I got night mode.

I have tried all combinations of the AA phone day/night/auto settings and Andream unit day/night/auto settings. I even set my AA into developer mode and set the developer settings to allow the phone to control day/night mode. I can set both the Andream unit and phone to night mode and when I start the car, it displays day mode. When i go into the menu on either my phone or the Andream screen, they show that night mode is set. I have to toggle to day or auto, and then back to night to actually get night mode.
I have set all of my brightness settings to 89/100 per some advice else where...
I have just given up on having a fully functioning experience.
And everything works great on my other car with Android Auto.

Good morning friends, since I put the MMI Box on my X1 I have these problems that I can't solve:

*My car has a parking assistant, there is no way for it to work since I connected the MMI, since pressing the assistant button leaves the rear camera and prevents seeing the instructions.


*Phones automatically connect, be they iPhone or Android, to the module's BT and if I'm out of it, I can't listen.


*The music from the iPhone and Apple Watch start to play on their own, without hitting anything.

Does anyone have a solution to any of these problems?

SDK Version: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0
CUST Version: E_V1.5.10
MCU Version: 21.3.22.20
HW Version: BMW_EVO

Can anyone narrow my search in the update log? I purchased my MMI from DroidUK in 2021

Edit: while I'm here does anyone have the issue of their screen blacking out occasionally. Mine likes to turn off during Android auto and not come back unless I pull the power plug on the box or shut the car off for a few minutes. I can return to the MMI menu and then back to AA but at that point the screen is black. Unplugging and plugging back in my phone or even restarting it does nothing. The phone sees that AA is active but nothing on the car screen....

It's usually random but today it was happening every 5 min or so while I waited in line at the car wash listening to a podcast. Very strange.

Anyone know how to get it to prioritize the bmw Bluetooth connection instead? The music will play fine, but I can’t hear spoken directions ever and the Siri voice is about 50/50.

Just bought the Box from RoadTop, it's the B2 Version with Firmware 1.69R3 installed - it's latest, right?

So far it's running fine, except:

Yesterday, the box didn't seem to loose power after locking my car - any1 experienced that? My phone still found the CarPlay from inside the house although my car was locked/disabled.

Second "issue": When connected through Airplay, I can mirror my iPhone wirelessly, but when I switch to e.g. YouTube, the video doesn't have the right aspect ratio. It's not wide enough. Sending a video directly from the YouTube app through airplay seems to crash the airplay on the box..

Got the 6.5" screen, btw.

2.5 year update, finally found the time to install new MCU from Andream and reinstall this MMI box.

In case anyone else with F10 and 10.2" screen see flickering and only 2/3 of the screen for native iDrive screens, you need MCU 21.6.7.116.

Ok, after fighting a lot with the customer service of my MMI, I managed to obtain some updates. But first, some interesting info.

I strongly believe that all the Andream clones belong to this group: https://www.ewaygps.com/
The reason is, my MMI was purchased from 'TLPXAUTO Official Store' (an ex-aliexpress vendor). Now, if you visit their webpage on AliExpress, they will ask you to contact Daisy [at] ewaygps.com in case of additional support.
Note that on https://ewaygps.com/downloads/firmware-downloads/", they have a password protected repository of updated firmwares. Probably the Eldorado we are all looking for.

Anyway, the first update I manage to get is the latest (according to the official support of Ewaygps) MCU for my BMW_EVO hardware.
This is version 21.8.11.15 and it installed flawlessly.

I simply copied all files (excluding 'recovery110#') on my FAT32 usb and launched the MCU update from the MMI.
After that, I installed the CUST they suggested: EW_E_V1.6.9R2_n.

I just copied the two files in the USB and launched the system update.

After that, I completely re-paired my phone with the MMI (full reset of bluetooth, WiFi and Android Auto). The system was really responsive. This is the final result.


Note: after the update, my hardware version changed from BMW_EVO to B_E. I guess this is the new denomination for the EVO hardware in modern MCUs.
