I have not seen a firmware named like that before. It looks actually quite new based on the date.
If the seller cannot help you out, or provide you firmware updates, may want to send it back to them and get your money back. Andrean and Road Top both ship from the US, and both are quite responsive with support and firmware updates if necessary. Andream has two years warranty and is a bit more expensive, Road Top has one year warranty.

Please can someone help recommend Gemini Pack order for the upgrade from B_v1.0.2 . I have read most of the pages of thread and I can summaries this order
B_v1.0.2 > B_V1.2.1 > B_V1.2.5> B_V1.5.5 > B_V1.5.9 .. B_V1.6.2 .. Even though B_V1.6.2 looks a lot bigger in flash size. not sure If I should go to that. My install is in BMW I8 I have issue with andream not going to sleep also . if anyone knows a fix for this would be much appreciated. Really grateful to any responses. I do try help others too SDK:25.0.0.5.6.0.0.0 CUST: B_V1.0.2 MCU: 20.6.2.0 HW Version: BMW_NBT |

Any files linked on the first page of this thread are outdated. They should only serve to fix any issues you may have on your outdated MMI box. I have never used Gemini to update the CUST VER firmware. Then again, I never had an Andream B NBT MMI box. The latest CUST VER firmware files posted here were for Andream A NBT and B2/1 NBT and B2/2 NBT. These were from 2023-2024 and implemented full Bluetooth audio instead of the AUX-IN. Maybe someone else has the proper updated CUST VER firmware for Andream B, but I suspect that Andream may not have made new updates for that version. If no-one else can help, you may be better buying one of the other Andream versions, or get a new Andream or Road Top NBT MMI.

I recently retrofitted to EVO HU from NBT, so do not need an MMI anymore. With both the MMI and the real BMW CarPLay used, I think the MMI for around $200-300 is a good solution. It provides about 80-90% interface functionality vs the OEM BMW CarPLay. The OEM CarPlay only crashed once in 3 months (possibly after an iOS update), while the MMI crashed about 2-3 times a week. Although, quick to reboot and fix with the push of the BACK button.
If you are inclined with DIY coding and wiring and have patience while bottom-feeding on Ebay, then the OEM CarPlay (EVO HU upgrade) is not a bad path. It will cost about double the MMI box. 10.25" OEM touchscreen adds another $250. But the EVO HU will not give you rear cam or any other cam, unless you already have it. And it's a relative pain to retrofit rear cam, etc. And of course no HDMI input (which I never used with MMI, but can be useful). One major benefit with the OEM EVO vs MMI is the seamless audio integration. The MMI's audio for me, even with full Bluetooth, is unreliable and confusing. This is definitely a programmer issue. The Chinese programmers are doing a lousy job at it. Repeated recommendations to make the MMI firmware open source were ignored by the stubborn short-sighted MMI sellers/manufacturer jealously guarding their half-baked product. If the MMI firmware would work seamlessly, I would have stayed with the MMI.

My MMI box is not working with the OEM BMW microphone, not sure if it can or not. I dont see a setting for it in the menu. I never received any info on what the dip switches do, except 1 is on and the other 7 off for a 10.2inch screen.

Hi everyone, spend so many time to find solution, but failed.
I have mmi from roadtop: Sdk: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0 Cust: Er176r2 Mcu: 23.4.13.117 Hw: B_E_G. Everything works fine since i got it, except resolution (stretching) of Android Auto. May be someone can help me, share right update for example. P.S. I have installed v 179, but it's still streched ( Last edited by Hirroman; 08-12-2025 at 12:20 PM.. |

Moreover, starting the AA is not the issue per se - it's the automatic switching to MMI display when AA is started and that is definitely controlled by the MMI itself. To me this is annoying to the point of ripping everything and returning to stock. Especially because it is such a simple software fix - auto switch to MMI display on AA connect - on/off, simple as that. |

Hi there guys, I’m new to the BMW platform and recently got a 8.8in screen for my 2016 340 since it came with the 6.5in but I installed mmi after coding the 8.8 and it won’t show the mmi screen. I just changed back to the 6.5in and it works perfectly. Will note the 8.8 came off a 2013/14 not quite sure but I’ll leave pictures and video. If anyone can tell me if I can make the 8.8 work with CarPlay I would greatly appreciate it. I do have the Andream mmi btw

Does your 8.8 inch display work without the MMI inserted between the head unit and the display?
If not: What was your FDL coding for your 8.8 inch? Can you list the specific code lines you did? Did you code “breites display”? If your OEM display set up is not correct and it still set for the 6.5 inch display, the MMI will work with both 8.8 and 6.5 inch, but your head unit will not work with your 8.8 inch OEM display. The MMI is only doing a pass through when in OEM-mode, so passing on the wrong video signals from the head unit to the display. .

Also, what is your exact setting of the DIP switches on your MMI? NBT, I assume. Normally it's first 3 switches ON and rest OFF for 8.8" and 10.25", but not always. For 6.5" first two ON and rest OFF. What is your MMI make and model number, or if can show the firmware screen (you need to use a PIN code to enter that menu item)

I got the car with the 6.5. I then bought a 8.8in and coded it in and ran perfect for 3 months. I then bought the mmi box and installed to the 8.8 and wouldn’t work so I took off. Today I decided to try it with the old screen (the 6.5) and coded it back for the screen to work and to my surprise it did as seen in previous pictures. I don’t think it’s the coding but maybe now that you state about the dip switches it might be that because right now with the 6.5 working I have the first 3 on and rest of them off. Maybe something is off on the switches so I maybe gotta keep messing with it unless there’s another setting. |
