Only time that happens is if you click "Request Update" and you've communicated beforehand that the tuner has to touch your file.

Ran a couple of logs this evening. Not sure if the speed and time duration is sufficient enough? If I'm doing something wrong please correct. Any feedback on these logs would be great. Thanks~

Formatting wise, perfect! Short and sweet full gear pulls, good stuff

And, in my non-expert opinion, it looks good data wise for the most part too. AFRs are good, timing isn't perfect but it rarely is, and most other critical values look good.

There's just one thing I'll comment on: you are a little bit further from the boost target than what I think is ideal. Naturally you won't be at target all the time, but you should be within 1-3 psi at more or less all times. Your MAP pressure is pretty consistently between 15-17 which is about 5-7 psi below target. It's really easy to visualize this if you click on all other values at the bottom to remove them to leave just rpm, boost target and MAP psi. You can also look at the boost deviation to get exact numbers. I'd hesitate to say it's an issue, but we'll let others chime in and see what they have to say

Other than that, I can't find any big problems (not that that's a big problem).

Hey,thanks for the feedback. I think we noticed something like this before in my logs when I was Stage 1. Do you know what could be causing this problem? Boost leak? Is there something I could adjust to get my car running at optimal performance? Maybe a custom tune/adjustment?

Ahh that's right, I remember discussing this with you on stage 1. I think with stage 1 we concluded it was normal, because in that case you were only a few psi off target, but now with the higher target on stage 2, you're too far off.

At this point I don't think there's anything remedying for you to do, as there's most likely a tune or hardware issue. My first guess would be boost leak, but it looks like at points you do come close to the target, which I would imagine is impossible with a boost leak. However, it still would be a good idea to check FMIC connections, and pretty much all other charged air pathways for obvious malfunctions. Take a look at your turbo housing too just to be extra careful, but I highly doubt you'll find anything there. So that said, it could be either a tune or hardware issue, I'm really not sure... I don't want to guess at what it is so as not to mislead you, so hopefully someone will chime in with some answers.

Excellent information. I actually posted my logs onto the FB Bootmod Enthusiast page as well to see if someone would chime in. I do know that while the car was having everything installed the BMW tech that did the work went through the car and said it was pretty solid aside from the fact that my condenser was pretty banged up and I should just keep an eye on it. I know smoke tests are used to diagnose boost leaks... Can I get one performed to see if I have an air leak? Duhhhh....Wouldn't that be the same purpose?

Well the A/C condenser isn't going to have any effect on boost pressure lol, but I'm sure theres a way to test that system for a leak too, but it wouldn't be of any help to you here...

Yeah... May want to look for a leak. You can always request an update from PTF just in case, but your log looks like everything is in place to make target.

Would I get a smoke test preformed? Not sure how to go about getting an update....?

Yes, you would. Do yourself a favor and just double check all connections in the boost chain. Check for any cracks or loose connections.

You can email PTF and open a ticket as well. Let them know what you're seeing and see what they have to say.

I too was doing logs last night, but noticed an error pop up mid stream. Little did I know it would not continue logging. Wasted ten minutes, got frustrated, quit.

While I was eyeballing (more passenger than I) I saw boost often reaching 19.7 lbs and IAT's at WOT were 9-11 degrees above ambient. Pretty pleased.

This was an answer to the same questions I posed here from a member of the Bootmod FB group:

“Stock turbos taper a lot in upper rpm range (I’m not a n20/26 expert tho... maybe they are different) the ots maps target higher boost up there but my understanding is that your logs look 100% normal and you don’t have a boost leak because you hit target boost in lower/mid range and actually overboost a bit, and your map psi matches pre throttle psi. If you want to hold bigger boost all the way to redline you may need to look into a bigger turbo.”

That's kinda what I was getting at earlier, you do hit target down low, which is why I was hesitant to say you had a leak... But, while you won't hit the target exactly in the upper rpms like this FB post mentioned, you should definitely be closer than you are. There's a problem somewhere.

Can't hurt to see what PTF has to say too.

There is definitely an issue here. You shouldn't even be in the 16psi range. Stock turbo should only drop to 18psi range.

Here is one of my logs (Yes, not pretty but focus on the WOT area): http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b1bf2dad10b437faba93c3f

This was logged pre-big turbo and as you can see, I'm in the 19s/high 18s up top. You should be well above your target, making around 21psi and then dropping to 18 at the very top of the gear. Not sure who that comment was from but being 3-5psi under target is not normal.

+1

Here's one of my stage 2 logs, just so you have a little more to compare with: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b633b12d10b43626a89e7b0

Just keep in mind that you and I are on 93 tunes while Bunker is on a 91 tune, so his boost target will be lower and easier to hit. Same principles still apply, but something to keep in mind.

On my log, you'll notice that the lowest MAP psi gets is ~18.5psi, and that's at almost 7k rpms. That's as low as it should ever get, and even that's pretty low for a boost target at 22psi, so 15-16 is really far too low.

No problem

Go to protuningfreaks.com, bootmod3 drop down menu, contact support, login, tune support, fill in the form and then in the comments section that will pop up after you submit your form, tell them about what's going on.

While they'll probably just tell you to check for leaks like we have, it certainly can't hurt to get their opinion. Let us know what they have to say!
