Reset f30 steering angle sensor?

Today I replaced my left front tie rod end which had a torn boot. (From me with the coilover install, it got caught up with the brake dust shield at one point and ripped a bit).

I thought I lined the new one up perfectly but I guess not as I am getting 'chassis stabilization drive moderately' which I've seen after disconnecting the battery. But this time it won't go away, and the little orange DSC/tc light is on, I cannot get out of comfort mode, cruise control malfunctions if used, and most annoyingly the turn signals don't click off after turning (as if the turn signal stalk situation wasn't bad enough already in this car).

All signs and googling points to the steering angle sensor needs reset.

One step forward ... two steps back.

I can't really find a diy for the f30 on how to reset this. I do have tool32, which some of the e90 guys use for this. Is there a way to do it through there (for f30), or do I need to get the larger inpa (whatever it is called) tool going? After I reset the sensor I will use tool32 to wipe any faults. I also have esys if that can be used to reset, but I've only used that for FDL coding thus far.

I still need an alignment .. which I have a guy for probably next week, but I don't think he can deal with the sensor either, so it would be nice if I could just zero it myself. Has any one reset it after alignment work for the f30? It should be a pretty simple/common procedure I think but I can't find a good post about it. What is the easiest way to zero this thing.. Thanks

bump ... can anyone go over this procedure?

A certain member PM'd me ... saying I can use ISTA-P. So I've downloaded that (thank you - you know who you are ... I'll be in touch at the end of this ordeal).

I will be working through the ISTA-P install later tonight and hopefully I can get it working. As long as this laptop has enough HD space I should be fine.

I am still hoping to hear from someone who has done this themselves ... what did you do to reset it.

Unfortunately I can't find anything in tool32. There's a function for it in listing of the E90 DSC job but nothing in the F20. I also tried just clearing the codes with tool32 and it didn't help - I thought maybe it was a stuck one time code, but nope.

Were you able to reset the steering wheel sensor and fix your issue? I'm running into the same problems after installing a BBK.

I used a bootleg copy of ISTA/D to do it. It's right in the service functions. Nice program to have for sure, if you don't care about software licenses / laws it's the way to go.

ISTA/P will do it but it will want to flash your entire car first. DO NOT do that. Use ISTA/D service functions, or a legal 3rd party scanner tool if you can find one.

You can find it pretty easily on Google. You may want to find your istep version, find the chart that maps istep->psdz version, and get that version of ista/d. It's huge and is weird to install, but once you get it going really nice to have.

Had a problem tonight coding the EPS. It did not even have a CAFD anymore. No power steering! I eventually convinced the EPS to be restored to earlier today....but have a code (482394) for steering angle calibration. Looks like I cannot do it with ESYS. I don't see anything like that in the FAT Transmitter. Do I have any other options or maybe need ISTA/D?

Much thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of anything. A newer pro scan tool like the foxwell etc may be able to do it. But you should just get ista going and enjoy it.

I know you can use edibas for some of the service functions on the f30 but I don't think very many. I'd be curious to hear from an expert how the service fns are invoked and if there's a lower level tool that can be used. I'd imagine the factory can do it with other bits, not requiring the dealer software.

Sorry to resurrecting an old post. Anyone managed to reset their EPS? I had my steering rack rebuilt and now i cant seem to complete the EPS start up procedure. The DSC, Stabilization and tyre pressure warning lights are all on.

Is there a limit to the number of times you can run the EPS reset?

is it possible to mis-align steering angle sensor when do the M- steering wheel update? I am having a not centered steering wheel since I swap the normal steering wheel to a M - Steering wheel. I am driving a 2016 F20, 1 series with B48 engine. I have done several four wheel alignment but the steering still crooked even I placed the steering wheel dead straight when run the alignment.

And how can I start a thread? Am I not allowed to do so ?
