Hello everybody,

Finally, I finished installing my Avin head unit.

I have an Android 10 720p resolution 4/64 unit.

I have Carplay, a rear camera, a dual dash DVR, and a front parking camera.

I simply connect the rear reverse camera using a dual cable going from trunk to head unit, this cable also has an additional 4 pin connector for DVR. DVR connected to that cable and also to the USB port, but DVR not working, unit DVR itself flashing and turned on but I can't understand how to get an image on my head unit. Can someone help me and guide how to make Dvr working?

Also, I have another problem with the front parking camera, how can I make it work? Don’t understand which connector should be used to connect and make it work?

Thank you, guys.

  • 4/8 core 2.0 Ghz MTK Processor (2/4 core unknown MTK, 8 Core seem to be Helio P60 CPU )
  • 2/8 GB RAM
  • 32 /64GB / 128 GB Flash Memory.
  • Android 10 ?
  • Available configurations Core / Memory / flash :
    4C / 2GB / 32GB
    8C / 8GB / 64GB
    8C / 8GB / 128GB

In Terms of raw performance the new CPU seems to be around +30 ~ +100% faster than the Snapdragon 625 CPU.

However as the SD625 CPU with 4GB ram does have not real performance issue at the moment its not sure yet what benefit that new hardware will have at all.
On this upgrade the more important factor is the Software.

The shops are still using images from Snapdragon 625 Headunits, so its also not known which Android Image is installed.

As MTK processors are in general not used that much it likely may be that lots of the modification tools wont work.
As of now there is also no BMW/MB MTK headunit known tha has been rooted successfully .

So if someone already got such a new Hardware it would be cool if we could do some remote analyzing (Laptop+ Internet required) to see what that headunits are performing and what software is installed.

I`ll update this post when new information is available.

Kri
The concern is that MTK chips exist a lot, so we would have to identify which one is going to be put forward to be able to focus on it and see if we could do the same things as with our S625.

The large one it the Helio P60, so that has been already confirmed.
but honesly, that MTK stuff in general has not that large community support, so i don`t know if it would bring us benefits at all.
Probably the only benefit may be that it is cheaper for the manufaturer to buy

The official global excel list of supported LTE Bands for Snapdragon 425 and 625 Headunits has been leaked.

I already did a translation of it, both files can be found HERE.

Thanks for taking the time to put the APK together - greatly appreciated.
My voice button won't summon the assistant either no matter what the setting but it does start the default nav, but ONLY when the setting for the nav button is set to Android. The voice button stops controlling nav when "nav button setting" is set to OEM so try changing that.

- Rear parking camera (working when in reverse and at the moment without additional power)
- Front DVR

I have one USB dedicated to the Android Auto and the other using an aftermarket hub to connect the DAB+, its antennae and the front DVR. However with both DVR and DAB plugged in, neither will work. I've tried a different USB hub to no effect.

Any ideas of how to get these all working harmoniously together or is this simply the limitation of this device i.e. can only have two full powered dongles attached at a time
Most likely due to the limitation of USB 2.0 power delivery which is around 0.5Amp. Get a USB hub with option to plug in additional power. You can use a 5v USB charger to power up the hub. That should help supplying additional power for multiple devices.

At a minimum, 2.6.1 and that factory file are needed for the UI you want to show up in the factory settings list, afaik.

I've downloaded the 2.6.3 update zip file to internal storage directly and restarted the unit, nothing happened.
Am I missing something here? currently in 2.5.3 using SD625 HW, is using SD card for update a must?

You have to either use SD card or USB drive, Android won't recognise if you have update file saved somewhere on the internal drive.

Ends up the hub I bought has a plug for 5v microUSB power supply. I tried plugging in and no luck - DVR and DAB refused to work. Funnily enough, my phone was able to charge off the same hub. Weirdly when I take the hub off and plug in the individual devices - they work flawlessly.

Go figure!

I've got the SD625 blue anti-reflective screen 12.3" MEKEDE NBT version using with BMW ID5 NBT EVO.
Initially car display video wasn't showing up in the Android display, which later I fixed by changing APIX2 --> APIX1.

Question is, APIX2 compatibility is in MCU firmware or HW dependent? I suppose APIX2 capable chip would be required to convert the video signal, right? Or it may work if I flash with NBT_EVO MCU firmware?
Is there any possible way to get the display to accept APIX2 video without HW modification? Any thoughts?

After connecting my new screen I receive a NO SIGNAL message from the car unit, the rest works perfect.

I already checked all the connections and they are fine, if I install the original screen in parallel, it works perfect

.Android unit : Mode 1025-04 13 17Y NBT 720P // 1 SER ES NBT 8953 4+64 H

My car is a 2018 M140 F20 with:
Harman Model: NBT EVO HU
BMW 6512

Original display:
BMW LK CID 8.8 BMW Part BM 9387547 02

The vendor (Wondefoo) tells me to change the type of screen in factory settings, I already did this by trying all the options and it does not work.

I suspect the problem is that my car is EVO and the Android unit is NBT, does this have any solution other than changing the unit? (I live in Argentina and it is not easy to buy something in China, when entering you pay a lot of tax)

I tried various solutions via bimmercode changing screen parameters and also from the factory settings of the Android unit trying all the screen options, nothing worked.

Excuse my poor English.

Thanks a lot.

I've got this working, you just need to code APIX2 --> APIX1
Also no change of LVDS cable required, same EVO cable works just fine.

Incorrect, I've got this working, you just need to code APIX2 --> APIX1 in EVO
I have X3 ID5 EVO working absolutely fine with MEKEDE 12.3" NBT display.
