Lovely build

That brown paintwork is something else. Probably of the nicest OEM paintworks.

Yes it always amazes me how much the color can change under different lighting. I feel like its almost 4 colors in one!

My 1 of 1 Headlights

The car has recently undergone a big change I've been wanting to do since I upgraded to LCI tails... it took me about 30hrs total but I think it was worth it so I could customize all the components I wanted to while keeping the chrome non-blacked out OEM look. I'll be posting more pictures from behind the scenes of the headlight mods.

Headlight Build Photos

Last year in October I made some renders of upgrading the lights and wanted to try something different. Pairing the Euro LCI Blackline tails with a modified set of angel eyes. This isn't my first retrofit, but its the first in which I didn't do a blackout...meaning you have to be super careful working with the chrome otherwise it will scuff/flake off the plastics. I felt that with the car being a darker color, I wanted some contrast against the paint rather than the blacked out look. Ultimately I was able to keep the etched BMW on the eyebrows in chrome while also painting the lower half of the brow to give the headlights a little more dimension/flare. I also modified the projector shield to have a sharper cutoff and painted it black so it matches the inner dummy projector. To complete the "chrome-out" look, I swapped out the turn signal bulb with an all silver casing amber led one to eliminate the egg-yolk look in photos.

As promised here are some pictures that show just how involving the whole process is.

Wow, that is some epic work you've put in there for the headlight retrofit!

Intense! Wish I had the confident to pull something like that off. Knowing how expensive they are I would be terrified of accidentally damaging them.

I removed the lenses from a aftermarket pair of headlights on one of my older cars, so I know what a pain in the ass that is. But how many hours did this take you?

How hard would you say it is just to install the different angel eyes? Cause that looks dope and I would love to have those on mine!

Good job! 👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks, I would say it was worth it given the price/performance of LCI LED assemblies, plus the light output at night is a massive improvement!

It's not too bad if you're patient with it! My hands were sore after getting the casings open The overall project took around 30 hours, split over a weekend...with about 10hrs dedicated to splitting the housing. It wasn't too hard to dissemble the inner components as long as you have the right tools and use gloves to not scuff the chrome. To remove the old rings requires unclipping them from each "projector" shroud as well as sliding the base of the rings out (you can see where from under the headlight housing that has the 2 LED bulbs). If you plan to use the same style rings it might require trimming the bottom of the low beam projector so that the rings can be mounted flush.

Honestly all headlight housings are similar on the inside, it's just seeing if it's a screw, glue, or clip holding the pieces in. I'd done similar retrofits on E9x platform so it was interesting seeing the revised components over the old design. I wasn't too worried about damaging them and made sure to measure/mock fit things up before committing, the main thing is being careful to separate/clean the housing of the old permaseal and reseal it correctly with thick/evenly filled fresh butyl.

Did you wrap it in black or something? Last pics show just black car like it is covered in film?

Sad to see brown disappear, that was best bit. :S

Nope! Car is still plenty brown haha, we had smoke cover during the cali fires plus the filter used. No bright sun and it looks black.

You’re spot on, I believe the edits were given a desaturated and orange haze.

The color is absolutely brilliant. The choice of rims to go with it is perfect. One of the most outstanding colors for sure that I've seen. Keep it up man. Beautiful work

Hope to see some more photoshoots of your car when it is not slammed, just normal driving mode. Big fan of the Porsche spec.

Waiting on parts to come in like some front spacers. My ride height is still tucking top of the tire with about 1.5mm space in the rear. Front will not be as flush for turning ability but I finally got the car dialed in, in terms of comfort. I will update fitment pics soon with ride height dialed in.
