Folks, I am new here and would like some assistance with my oem retrofit. I did everything according to this DIY and my LED's are not turning on. Prior to changing the wires in the FEM my HIGH beams were working, not they do not. I have not coded yet, but according to this diy, all lights should turn on after FEM part. I saw this diy elsewhere and it shows 2 different pin locations for the FEM? See below:
Move pin 26 from connector A173*2B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 34 from connector A173*3B to ---> pin 41 in connector A173*3B
Move pin 49 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 53 in connector A173*4B
Move pin 37 from connector A173*4B to ---> pin 54 in connector A173*4B

Absolutely not, you cannot judge anything until you do the coding, nothing will work until you do that. Not sure where you got that they will. The DIY is the one on the first page of this thread, I also posted it on bimmerfest, but they are identical.

I am also in Tampa, but I am leaving early tomorrow morning for a trip and will be back late Monday to help further if you need it. Get the coding done ASAP, you can risk damaging an ECU, also make sure all the wire changes are done with the battery disconnected.

Which FEM rewire is correct; the one posted by KapkaniMD or DoNi? Their is 2 wire discrepancy in regards to the FEM?

Question, did your coronas light up after both harness and FEM pin changes but prior to coding? The xenons light up fine with the car off but no LEDs. I will respect and follow your direction sir.

Doni got the ball rolling in the DIY by posting the wiring diagrams for EU spec cars, not US. Hence the title of this thread. I am the one who created the DIY and it has been copied multiple times without issues.

REGARDLESS!! NOTHING will work (correctly) until you get the car coded.

Yes, code first and see what happens

@Kapkanimd, I wired my ride height sensors 2 weeks ago and got the front OK, but problem with the rear. Thinking it was the sensor, I bought a brand new one. Installed but same problem. I'm inclined to believe there's something missing to enable the rear sensor data reading. I made sure my wiring is solid.

Interesting, I'll double check the wiring diagrams, but someone else on here said they had both working. . I never got my rear working as well and assumed it was broken. ..

Maybe it has todo with settings. Two of us can't both be wrong. If we can get his CAF for ICM and FEM, I can analyze it. My suspect is the relay setting in ICM but without CAF from a working install, it's hard to tell

I just finished the retrofit on my '13 328. couple nuances and perhaps you can help me sort out the bugs.

after the install and completing the SW coding the adaptive is behaving oddly.

When in neutral or Drive the left headlight moves all the way to the left(i.e. will blind oncoming traffic). When I put in Reverse the light re-centers.

Any thoughts on the issue?

I don't have the car anymore to be 100% accurate, but I am sure someone else can chime in on the correct behavior. The headlights centering in reverse is correct. Under like 5 mph the headlights are spread very wide, above that speed, they begin to center to not blind incoming traffic. I want to say what you are describing is normal.

Find someone local with the adaptive lights to compare it to or hopefully someone on here will verify for you.

But, if you bought the correct parts, wired them correctly, and coded the car, there should be no issues.

I didn't get to tackle this over the weekend with holidays etc, and because one of the headlights popped off its adjuster servo. In case anyone else runs into this problem here's what I'm talking about. Sorry for the blurriness, it's dark in there and I couldn't focus on the right spot with the flash on.



Looking in from the bulb access panel towards the middle of the car you can see the round servo and its yellow plastic arm with a ball shape on the end. That ball end should be snug inside an attachment point on the bulb holder adaptive assembly. Perhaps while being shipped, the bulb assembly came off that ball, and was left flopping around somewhat - or at least with one degree of freedom that it shouldn't have.

I searched and came across similar stories on E90 and E82 forums, and of course they have it easier because the servo is much more accessible. With the F3x housing there is zero access aside from the bulb panel, and it's not possible to reach in and grab the assembly near this point of clip-in for the servo to pull it into place. Pulling from the back does not seem safe, there's too much flex.

In order to reach the clip point, I bent a metal skewer to give it a small L-shape at the end, which I could reach in and hook around the back of the assembly. I then warmed up the inside of the housing (blow dryer or heat gun would do) to soften the plastics, lubricated the clip and ball as best I could with a cotton swab, and got the skewer hook in a good spot. Thankfully, one firm pull popped it in.

Apparently this has happened to a few people after sever potholes or bumps. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but I'm glad it's possible to DIY fix because these housings are very expensive.

Now I just need to get around to the retrofit...

The brand new OEM parts for the headlights are extremely expensive. I'm starting to collect those parts and trying to replace my halogen, it will be great if anyone has extra used parts and can sell it to me.
