I was backing into a parking spot on an angle as the edge of my tire went up on the curb, at this point the rim was fine because the tire is wider than the rim, then when I continued backing up at ~1mph, the tire came off the curb as the edge of the rim scraped side of the curb.

•Is the rim repairable?
•Will it come out exactly like the other 3 after surgery (if it needs major repairing)?
•Anything I should know?
•Estimated cost?

Orange County, California
Thank you!

The damage is very minor. Mobile wheel repair service will easily take care of it.

So you want to go see Son Tran at onsite wheel repair (they are by the 22 & 57) while he does not do mobile work any longer he has been a legend in SoCal wheel repair for nearly 20 years. Do not bother with anyone else, trust me.

Turn around will be quick and they will do it on the car for you. It'll probably be about $100.00.

Here is a yelp link or simply google "Son Tran wheel repair" and you'll be hit with a ton of info from satisfied customers

Your rims will turn out fine after the repair.

I have the same rims and the tyre place here (Australia) scuffed my rim during a new tyre install (similar to your gutter rash). They sent it off to an alloy wheel place that has a CNC machine and they repaired it. Cannot tell the difference from the other 3 rims.

This forum is invaluable for finding answers. Had major curb rash and took it to Son based on some of the threads here. He did a great job. Thanks guys!

So you went from machine finish to fully painted? You can see the lip is bigger after being machined or sanded as material is taken off.

He gave me the option of re-machine or not. I choose to go without the machine finish and honestly, I'm happy with it. He uses a clear coat over the his work and it looks fine to me, so I'm happy with it. If I wanted to go for perfection he was happy to do the work. I just didn't spend the extra $$$ for it.
