Well, 20 days to go to the Paris Motor Show.............

Then we'll know what it will actually look like. Wonder how long it will be until we'll see reviews of the production cars, with different engines? Probably one or two before Christmas I don't doubt.

There's a lot at stake for this 3 series and hopefully it will knock Jag off its pedestal that some say is a slighty betters drivers car. Get some of the magic back again.

I’m not excited about it anymore, I’ve pretty much decided I’m getting a 5 series or X3 now. Also there’s so many things about the G20 that I don’t like!

Like what Terry? I'm thinking that the new 340i touring will be my next car. If not, it'll have to be the Audi S4

My name's Tim

I don't like the Peugeot headlights, the Lexus taillights, the Audi idrive controls, the idrive screen position lower down and away from line of sight, and I'm not keen on the new style digital cockpit with the back to front rev counter.

Pah, give it a chance, you'll love it I'm sure a few months after reveal and being on the road. We probably both felt the G30 wasn't a looker when released and now its in the top 2 selection.

If you're looking at 3,5,X3......I'd still vote X3 3.0D as best all rounder. Not my ££ though 40D is the treat version but then you want to roll back also the silver trim I think too. 3.0D with every option

No problem mate, so what are your thoughts on the new 3 series?

When you add all the options that are standard on the 40d onto the 30d then they are virtually the same price, and when you take into consideration residuals they'll probably be the same amount per month.

Well, I want another hearse. Big petrol engine. Good chassis. More refined than f3x. I'm hoping the new g20 brings all that. I'm sure the looks will grow on me. Tried an X3 and It'SAvary it's a great car, for me it's just too big, too tall, too SUV. Not IMHO a driver's car

Same thinking, as I see more G30 models on the road, they are growing on me.

Also believe it is a bit premature to make judgements on the G20 until we actually see the whole car in the metal, sit in and drive them. The signs are, it will be a march forward for the 3-series.

Yes, I agree. At least I'm hoping it! I drove a colleague's S4 Avant a few weeks ago and was very impressed. Superb engine, superb interior, very refined. Usual numb Audi handling though. However, if the new G20 doesn't make the grade, I can see me going for one.

I'm sure it will be technically better in every way than the F30, there's so much strong competition in the segment, especially with a dynamic Alfa in the mix now too, BMW have to up the game. It's just a shame they had to plagiarise from other manufacturers designs so much.

Will it be as fun as a 340i with the mppsk system though? There is no way it will be anywhere near as loud.

Maybe not MPPSK, but the M340i will come with the M Performance exhaust as standard apparently so will be louder from factory.

Also will have the proper LSD like M3/4 so should be pretty good!
