Sport line broken front bumper lip

I went over some ice patches and ended up ripping the plastic part right under the front bumper. I am not sure if this is common to happen but it is the lowest part of the bumper and I think it is bound happen considering the snow we have.

I am wondering if I will have to replace the entire front bumper or if that part can be ordered separately (cost guesstimates?).

The same thing happened to my car except that the entire lip was busted when I hit a rabbit. I forgot to ask my indy garage for an estimate yesterday when I went in for an oil change. I will do it sometime next week. In the mean time, if you find out please update this thread.

I ran over a small piece of foam in the snow that someone must have dropped last year (it looked like a large pile of soft snow) and it completely tore up the front of my car ?. I've just been driving with it ever since because I'm too scared of how much it'll cost

A little research on realoem.com, I think I found the part then the price. To be sure, check with your own VIN number.

Part number: 51117263478 (Insert, air intake, center)
Number #4 in the diagram below

Found some OEM part listings on ebay for about 48$, seems like a snap-on part, shouldn't be difficult to do it yourself.

Hi, That's a separate piece. I think this is:http://www.ebay.com/itm/51117263478-...-/191132656265

I believe it's part #4 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8504

I've taken a lot of F30 bumpers off and although I've never taken this piece off, I do believe it is separate and shouldn't be too expensive (keeping in mind everything on a bmw is expensive). That ebay link I found is $50, but I would verify with the seller that it would fit, unless you can find it a little cheaper somewhere.

Good luck,

Bryan

Thanks @colonel_bagshot and bkkeys! I didn't bother to look up the part - was going to leave it to my mechanic, but this looks like it!

Sorry to hear that, I haven't have it replaced yet. I noticed other f30s with the same part broken. I have a feeling it will be broken again. Also the dealer quoted ~2hrs labor which costs more than the part probably the best is to get some quotes and not get it done after all

BMW probably classifies that as a "wear item". It's just a reason to get a front lip that takes the brunt of all carnage.

What would you suggest as a front lip for non-M bumper?

Would be nice if these under bumper parts were rubberized or a material that would be slightly flexible. I try to be careful but sometimes run the bumper over a higher concrete stop, ughhh

I don't really have a suggestion (never looked for one). I bought the Ikon for my M-Sport, I did have a different brand of carbon fiber lip on my E90 that worked great.

I find that eventually you'll find either a taller curb or a taller curb stop, and after one brain fart, you rub into it. The carbon fiber lip saves the lower front plastics from human stupidity.

I hit I large piece of Tire one night and broke this same piece. Ordered it from the dealership since they were like $5 off of ECS. It took a few hours to get everything off, but it all went back in no problem.
