Question Run-flats in Eastern Europe???

Happy Bank holiday guys

I'm posting this question on behalf of my Dad who I know would appreciate any help or advice on this matter. Please find his question below...

"I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me. I've just taken delivery of a new 520d Lux Saloon. I'm traveling to Poland in it later this year. Does anyone know if the BMW emergency arrangements work over there and if so how good is the service? Alternatively what other arrangements are there, if any? Lastly what have you had to do in reality to overcome the problem of an out-of- hours puncture more than 50 miles from home? Presumably you have to find some accommodation and deal with the problem as-and-when.

I've also noticed that run-flats are not standard in Poland and have to be specified as an option. Maybe there's a good reason for that ??? Would anyone consider changing the tyres for normal ones and having a BMW Mobility Pack to seal a puncture and inflate the tyre?

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you."

If memory serves me right I think Tengocity travels to Poland each year? Can you shed any light kind sir?

Cheers!

I do indeed!

I just checked that the BMW emergency cover included Poland, which it does, and worried about it little beyond that to be honest.
I Think you'd be absolutely fine anywhere near a major city if you needed to get hold of a runflat, plenty Germans travel there after all.

There are loads of BMWS around there so would guess the emergency service is reasonably good. The cars are probably seen as even more premium and expensive than in the UK so Id guess service standards match too.

I've not been there in non runflats yet, but will do in July, and will do it with a BMW mobility kit.

Thanks Tengocity for your reply. Please see my Dad's reply below...
"Just to say that I contacted BMW ConnectedDrive the other day asking the same question and got a long reply that didn't answer my main concern (an out-of-hours puncture more than 50 miles from home in Poland). What they did give me was a 14 country list in which the BMW SOS call connects to a European BMW Service Centre. The list included all of the main Western European countries and also included places such as Vatican City and Andorra but Poland was not on the list. I'm going to ask them specifically about Poland (again) tomorrow and if I find out anything interesting I'll let you know. Thanks again, Paul."

HI Paul,

Brit living in Poland and happy to help if possible. I put 200km on my e90 with runflats and I drive on some really crappy roads. Not once have I had a puncture, not sure if that will put your dad's mind at ease. I know 6 people with BMW's and they are all on runflats.

I recently picked up a 328i X with connected drive. Tested the SOS and I can confirm the agents speak English. I've not needed to call them out due to a puncture so can't help there.

I believe most towns have tyre/wheel places called wulkaniznizacja but they generally don't do call outs. Also B&B's are called noclegIi and are normally clean, friendly and cheap but English might be a problem.

Any other questions let me know.

Yes, preety much, especialy prices are premium. My friend bought a second hand BMW in Germany and wanted to do an oil service in Poland. One service asked about £300 for that. Enough to say I paid around £120 here in UK
