New Rims

Ive got the stock 18x8 2018 430i rims on my BMW, I'd like to switch to these Konig's. I think the bronze will just be incredible.

Now these rims are an 18x8.5 (nothing staggered here, im xDrive).

Im no expert on tires, but would the rubber on my stock's 18x8's be able to swap onto my new Konigs 18x8.5's. They are a nice P7 all season tire with a lot of tread left I'd like to use up.

Any help would be appreciated. Its late fall here in Wisconsin now, so no hurry, I wouldn't get the rims till March at this point anyway because of the economy and shipping delays.

I'm guessing your stock tires are 225/45R18 ? If so, 225 are already at the limit on an 8" wide rim, and too narrow for 8.5". It can be done, but you'll have the foolish stretched look like you see on Hyundai Velosters with 20deg camber.

Also, you can go staggered on xDrive. 8" front and 8.5" rear is a factory option.

Thank you for the info. I know you can go staggered, it just seems like more of a pain in the ass than anything else. Ill only be making 350hp when its all said and done, and the AWD grips like no other. No reason to fool around with trying to match the tire sizes and rims.

So there are a few definitions of staggered and to be honest I don't know if there's a right and wrong .

The two that come to mind are the rim and tire differences. The m3/4 cs 763 wheels come staggered 19 fronts and 20 rears. People who get the m sport package on our cars will get 8 inch front rims and 8.5 inch rear rims, typically in an 18 or 19 inch variation (400m or 442m for example). The wheel size is the same but the tires are "staggered"

I drive with a square set of 255/35/20 dws06 but staggered 8 inch front 8.5 inch rear 624m's on my f32 xdrive and it feels great.

I just swapped my wheels to my winter set, which, like you, are pirelli p7 cinturato's in a 225/50/17 size. I immediately felt the differences in how the tires felt and having that wider, sportier compound of my dws 06's was so nice.

So my answer is yes you can reuse the tires, my suggestion though is to buy new ones with your wheels! Make it all worth it by having grippier tires. Since you're not getting the rims till March anyways, AND you're in Wisconsin, use what you have now and keep doing research on tires you'd like to run on these wheels.

There are plenty of sales going on and I'm sure there will be a great summer one in March for when you purchase your wheels.

Just swap your tires over. Why bother asking. You'll save money and if you don't like it, get a new set of tires

People will be like, yeah, drop another $1200 on these new tires even though the problem you're specifically running into is that your tires got tons of life left.

If you don't like the look of being slightly stretched, then get new tires. You can Google the tire size along with 8.5 and you'll find plenty of examples/pics

The whole, you'll be at 20 degree camber is such an exaggeration and a snobby comment. That's what makes BMW owners seem like asses

Basically, if you can stand a little bit of a stretched look I think you'll be fine. It's not the ideal width of tire for that wheel but tossing out a set of good rubber over it seems like a bit of a waste. I personally think it's worth trying them out to see, as I don't think it'll be an over-the-top St@nCeB0iZ look. And hell, if you like stance then go for it!

Another idea would be to sell the old wheels and tires, and with decent treadlife left you might get more for them. When I swapped out my OEM wheels I was able to sell them fairly easily to cover some of my upgrade cost and that was with the basically useless original tires on them.

Nice choice on the wheels and the bronze - what color is your car?
