M-sport steering wheel as a factory option on luxury line 335i?

I came across a 2013 335i for sale that has an M-sport steering wheel. The VIN decoder says its S710A.

But when I go on the BMW usa site and 'build my own', I don't see the m-sport wheel as an option under luxury line or modern line in the configurer.

Was this a special order, or something?

I have been told you cannot order the M wheel with any other line. I tried with mine! It was probably added by the previous owner after purchase, which I will do with my new one.

If it says S710A on the VIN decoder then it would have been installed as a factory option I think, I don't believe retrofits update the database that VIN lookups use. That's what my M Sport lists and I obviously have the M wheel.

Doesn't seem to work as well with luxury trim.

It's a factory goof. They did the same thing with sportlines. I can tell you it's most likely not a retrofit. So dealers were able to actually trick the system and get this option.

So I should grab it because it will be collectable

it's optioned up to $60k. I can't stomach that for a 3-series.

The car is brand new and it's showing up on the option list.

The M-sport wheel is an option on all lines in most markets. Maybe the US finally catched up?

I see this is an old thread but I have done alot of searching and find all retrofit threads. Is it true that a sport line without m sport could be optioned with an m sport steering wheel? I have a 17 320i with the m sport steering. Its not the same quality as the m sport though. I had a 13 m sport wheel and it was thicker and slightly more padded. I wanted a sport line 330i 17 but can't find any with this option. I seem to fine the 320i with the sport steering include wheel style 415 for some odd reason. was the wheel option required to get the steering option? Is this rare for the usa?
