2 year old alpine white keyed, buff or respray??
So some 10 year-old kid decided to pick up a rock and drew an unsolicited "performance stripe" across 3 panels @ the driver's side. They aren't they deep, but enough to catch the fingernail. Police and insurance are on it so I'm looking at ways to make my f32 beautiful again.
What would you guys recommend? Buff or respray? $$$ doesn't matter since insurance might cover it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kaen057m3...B1%5D.MOV?dl=0 |

In this scenario do both if it comes down to it. Try to buff it out. If you can't get it to blend properly then go for some body work. Doesn't look too deep in the video and its white. I'd say a little bit of aggressive cutting with some compound and polish will get her looking mint again.

If you can feel it with your fingernail, it's most likely too deep to polish out. Take it to a quality detail shop and get them to take a look. They may be able to wet sand and polish it out.

Yep, I'm going to get a quote with BMW bodyshop tmr. Just wondering, if they end up respraying it, would they respray the whole panel or just the affected areas only?

Oh man this reminds me of the 12 year old kid on my block that asked a family member of mine if they can have my car. I immediately pulled it inside the garage afterwards. If they re-spray the car and do just that section later on as time goes it might show that it has been repainted even if they blend it in with the doors and such. I would try to get it professionally color sanded/buffed out while you're at it before going the body shop route.

Just an update for you guys, I ended up doing it with BMW bodyshop since they offered life time guarantee. They tried polishing first but that didn't remove all of the scratches so they decided to paint (blend) it. I have to say they did such an amazing job that I couldn't even spot any irregularities !!! (im an OCD person too!)
