My error; I purchased the front PDC retrofit kit from PartsSale.EU: http://partsale.eu/index.php?option=...fice.dashboard This company was used by others who had done this retorfit. Be very patient as they take a long time to get it to you -- if I recall, it took me about 2 months to get the parts from them Hope that helps!

You can buy the parts to build your own retrofit cable. It's not very difficult, and much cheaper. You need: 1 x 61138383300 - socket housing 12 x 61131383776 - socket terminal 6 x 61138353705 - rubber grommet 6 x 22AWG wire, about 6 meters long each. You can probably find this at a local hardware store or get it off Ebay very cheap. I can post instructions on how to put it together if you need them. |

I'm from Brazil also and I want to do those retrofits in a f20. For rear and front. I don't know yet if my REM has the pins to it. I found the kits in the local dealer but it's a little bit expensive. Kind of 500 usd both. I will need also the sensors and maybe the REM. 1) can you provide us the instructions? 2) let's supose I will need the rem, there is some kind of limitation to buy it? Can I buy it from a f30, for example? 3) i have hu_entrynav. Is it capable to work with pdc? Thanks in advance! |

An update for UK users:
I have just successfully achieved this retrofit but UK RHD owners need to be aware that you have to order the following part numbers. My vehicle is a 2013 F31, so check with your parts supplier if there are differences for other model years. 1 retro kit - B66.20.2.338.070 4 sensors B66.20.9.261.582 1 switch B61.31.9.252.921 1 holder kit B51.11.7.324.343 1 cable set B61.12.9.313.607 Note that - 1) switch for LHD cars, B61.31.9.252.912 (last 2 numbers transposed) will not fit a RHD car. BMW are being their usual un-cooperative selves with me, refusing to take back my LHD version I ordered in error, so if anyone on this forum wants a bargain brand new switch for a LHD car please contact me on d.r.chadwick@btinternet.com. 2) the retro kit includes only part of the items you require. I do not understand why this is the case. 3) the sensors need painting with the colour of your car. You can order pre-painted ones at c£250 ea cf £100 ea for unpainted. Total cost parts + labour to fit c £900. In hindsight, far too much money, but it does work very well, integrating nicely with the existing rear system. Much better than non-BMW retrofit, but not sure if worth the extra. 4) I cannot comment on the fitting/software changes as my engineer did the job, but he did not report any problems (possibly because he is extremely capable) |

I'm trying to wire up the ICM and already removed the center trim around iDrive controller as well as the handbrake trim, but there's no way to access the plug from there. Is going through the rear vents the way to go?

I had to use a pick tool to get it out and back in and all I took out was the center trim and ebrake boot, although, I do have small hands.

Thanks for reply. No, I couldn't even reach the plug. It was getting dark already so I might have missed something but it looked like the air duct going to the rear covered the ICM module almost completely, I could only see a glimpse of it. Was yours like that too?

EDIT: What I did was use the ebrake boot to access the ICM wiring harness. The locking click is on that side, so use your finger to feel for it and use a picktool to help you swing the locking mechanism. Putting it back was harder for me as I couldn't see where I was putting the harness back into the ICM since the limited space.

Well, that then looks (and sounds) like a total pain to get to
Thanks for the tips, I'll take a better look tomorrow or so. I have small hands too so I'm not going to give up just yet, although it looked like the center console assy isn't too bad to remove either. |

Just checked, you really went through the ebrake boot? You have to have really small fingers, it looked like there's only so little space there.
Some photos would be much appreciated but no stress about it. |

Here are some photos I just took. Jammed my phone camera from the ebrake boot. The ebrake boot opening Not the actual plug but an idea where the lock is located.

Thanks a lot! Seems same as mine indeed. It's pretty crazy that you could actually unplug and plug the cable from that tiny opening but I'll try tomorrow or so, didn't have time today due working late, meh.

Feel for the push tab (this prevents from the swing locking arm from undoing itself) on the plug with one finger and press it towards the front of the car and with the other finger try to pull the swinging lock. If you cant swing that all the way, just swing it enough that its slightly pass the push tab and holds it down and use a pick tool to grab and swing/pull towards you.

I ordered the items on that list. The rubber grommet didn't fit the socket housing, maybe it was me but it was too big (61138353705). I didn't try to figure out the correct one, just took some hot glue and filled it in so water/moisture didnt get into the socket housing.
I order 25 feet of 22 gauge TXL wire from ebay, you will need 6 different colors. Since I did the rear PDC, I know that the pin #12527522387 works so I ordered those for the REM side and for the socket housing, the pin listed in the instructions (61131383776). All you have to do is crimp the pins to the new wires for the PDC side while noting which color on the front apron its lines up with. The PDC front apron harness has 6 colors, match those to the wires you're making. After running the wires cut the length when you get to the REM while keeping some slack. Pin those wires and then go back to your notes. Its really simple.
