Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2.... SO FLOATY!!!!!
I had a set of yoko advan v105's on for quite some time now.. the ride is awesome firm and precise.
Long story short the rears went bald so i replaced them with a set of Hankooks and now she drives like a sack if shit sliding down a sliperey ditch ... Floaty feeling at higher speeds and Traction/ABS light keeps kicking-in around corners that before i could plow through even with the bald Yokos.... Since i've had the car i've done around 400km on them (250 miles). I have raised the rear tire pressure to around 2.6 bars (38psi). it helped out a little bit On a side note it hooks up awesome in a straight line no issues with straight line grip what so ever... it just feels like the sidewalls are made out of marshmallow.... Can anyone spread some light as to what is going on? P.S alignment is fine, as right before the new Hankooks got mounted i had an alignment (2months back) and the day i got them changed i was able to drive 120mph one handed no sweat, now at just 100 i am fighting to keep her from twitching about. Thanks guys!!

I recently replaced my potenza pzero run flats with a set of V12's after numerous recommendations and excellent reviews. The difference is night and day...I absolutely love the way the car feels now compared to the OEM run flats.... granted I'm not driving 120 mph ( that doesn't go over too welll here in the US with the police) |

I run the hankooks and they are just fine
120mph no problem, no swerving I don't really ever see my traction light come on since Im usually in sport+ Freeway onramp at 65-70 getting sideways, no problem I think your mismatch is killing you

My options are to spend another 300$ and get the fronts or sell the rears and pay 1000$ bucks for a full set of ps4...

I've tried a few different pressure levels -- 33, 35, 38 and 40. I like 38 all around

I can't complain about the H&R sports. Definitely not as nice as a set of coilovers but they did reduce a lot of body roll and stiffen up the suspension travel

wow i thought i was the only one. on my previous ATS-V, i got new wheels and went with v12 tires to replace the PSS. i only did this because everyone kept saying that the hankooks were good. not as good as pss but a very close second place type of good.
totally agree with your statement of it being a sack of shit sliding down a slippery ditch. probably because i was used to the pss. |

Being in the business and having tried so many different tires on and off the track, there is a big difference amongst them all. Without touching on the real low end Chinese stuff, you can't compare the performance of a Hankook V12 to high end Michelin or Yoko's.
At the same time, you need to manage expectations. I am not discounting the Hankook at all. They are an excellent budget performance tire and ideal for 90% of the people on here. Very good grip, smooth and budget friendly. Ideal tire for the daily driver. I would never track with these tires(we actually heard a few horror stories about guys tracking with them). Personally, I would say they work best with cars under 300hp. Performance wise, it compares more with General GMax, Michelin AS3, Conti DWS. Yoko V105's are in a whole different league. Comparable to the Michelin PS4, PSS, Conti ExtremeContact, Bridgestone S-04. These are High performance summer tires. You feel a significant difference the grip and especially the sidewalls. These tires work well as daily drivers but are also excellent on the track. At the same time, they're not the same price. Personally, if you're 350hp+, I would highly recommend buying one of these tires. So you have to figure out if you're shopping for price or performance. The Hankook V12 is probably one of the best in between's. But you can never compare it to the V105's performance wise. my .02, V12's will work great on a 328/330. On a 335/340 they're fine. On an M4, it's a sin lol |
