Hey all,

I figured I would start more of a “fun” thread here. I searched around and I saw an older top speed thread in the general (non-BMW) section, but nothing specific to F3x or N55. That thread was just people posting how fast they have been in various cars, but it was mostly non-BMWs, and I am curious for our specific platform/engine.

The question for this thread is simple: What is the highest speed you have achieved in your N55-powered BMW?

It doesn’t necessarily need to be an F3x, but must be N55-powered. Doesn’t need to be within a ¼ mile or a given distance, just overall maximum speed you have achieved as a driver. I believe the forum has a policy against street racing stories, so let’s not go there. Top speed runs are assumed to be done legally.

Some details to include:

• Top speed achieved and how it was measured (speedo, dragy, GPS, etc)
• Datalog of the run if available
• Vehicle model/year
• Mods
• Tune
• Any other relevant info that influences top speed and if you want, the story of how you did it (but again, no street racing stories).

I will start:

• 177mph per datalog and my GoPro telemetry data. The speedo ends at 160 and the HUD stops reading after 162 so i had to setup my phone with GPS app to know how fast i was really going.

• 2015 335i
• VRSF IC+CP+TIC (5’’ IC at the time), MSTv2 inlet, MPPK airbox, drop in filter
• MHD stage 2+ E20 running E30 fuel
• MPerf front lip and CF rear trunk spoiler may have affected aero. The car wasn’t done pulling but I was running out of room. I may try a different spot and go for ~186 mph as my goal is to hit 300 kph. I also have race IC now so that should help keep IATs in check during a long pull.

I've buried the speedo before. I'll call it 160 bc I don't know the actual speed, but the needle did pass the 160. This thing pulls like a monster all the way to the top.

147 mph readout on the HUD…still pulling when I crested the hill, then hard on the brakes down the backside sweeper right turn towards a stop light.

2014 435i xDrive M-Sport, MHD Stage 2+ E20 map, VRSF intercooler and catted downpipe, M Performance intake with drop in filter…sounds pretty similar to OP's car.

I achieved around 189 using gps I don't believe the dragy tracks speed far as I know as. But you know our speedos maxes at 160 and the digital speedo maxes at 162. I believe she got a lot more I ran out of road. I'll try to get a log and overall video of the run. Goal is 200

Nice, i was wondering what the upgraded turbo cars are achieving. I think we have the aero for 200 with upgraded turbo power levels. I believe you need to be part of a "run" for dragy to track the speed. I see the same regarding the 160/162 maxes. I would love to look at a 200mph run log.

Fully stock 2015 435iX F36, original owner did not spring for M package so engine cuts power at 210 km/h (130 mph). I manage to hit that in the last 10% of the main straight at Pacific Raceways. Speedo indicated 132 mph, GoPro and Harry's agree at 131.

Good to know about the dragy ill give that a go. But yeah I think we should be able to touch 200 no problem I'm sure I can just got to find some more space got a few spots in mind

The hud goes past 162. I hit 184 with a catless dp and bm3 stage 1. The only reason I let off is because my oil temps started getting higher than normal.

I am 100% sure the HUD stops at 162 in my car. Maybe its a coding difference, but mine doesnt go higher.

Also, 184 on stage 1? Going downhill lol? Maybe possible with a long enough runway but without a IC i would be surprised on a pull that long

Just the factory limiter 155mph/260kmh. I have never de-limited mine - prevents me from getting stupid ideas

Long runway and it was around 30°F outside.

I have the limiter removed and 177 GPS verified, but the HUD still stopped at 162. The first run i did i noticed the HUD stopped increasing but i was still accelerating hence the 2nd run i put up the GPS.
