Anyone know about importing large goods?
Wife has been wanting 3 of this type of chairs for a while. In UK they seem to be around £600-£650 each delivered. Ordered direct from China 3 chairs costs around $1000 including shipping to the port, they don't seem to do a "to your door service" but collecting them shouldn't be too much of an issue as we have a few vehicles in Felixstowe every week. Will have VAT to pay etc, from an online calculator it looks like everything will cost around £1000 in total. Delivery looks to be much the same timescale so I assume the UK sellers are just ordering from their supplier in China once a customer places an order.
Any other fees or hidden costs to consider, storage, paperwork, etc? I know if the item comes damaged or incorrect then it will be my hassle but it's quite a potential saving, or would I be setting myself up for more trouble than it's worth? |

Pretty sure you'll have to pay import duty on them. If you use an import agent, the process may be a lot easier. We've used these people in the past. https://www.jas.com/
