Do I have a brake issue? Video inside...
I've got a 2016 BMW F30 340i. It's got 52,000 miles on it. When I press my brakes, sometimes it makes a screeching type sound. (please see video below) I think it might be my brakes as I have never replaced them or the pads. Can someone help diagnose or confirm my suspicion? If it's not the brakes, what else could it be?

Definitely sounds like brakes. Usually you can see the pad through the wheels but looks like that might be difficult on yours. In which case, pop the wheel off and take a look

Squeal is caused by metal to metal contact. The most common cause is lack of lubrication between the pads, calipers and pad carriers. Periodic re-greasing is a must. The next most common cause is pads in need of replacement. At 52,000 miles they're probably due. The iDrive miles to replacement readout is useless, all of the pads require yearly visual inspection to be sure of their condition, which also gives the opportunity for re-greasing.

All earlier comments are very helpful. Very little to add other than a thorough inspection of all brake components by a qualified shop is overdue. At the current mileage, rotors and brake pads have to be replaced if never replaced previously. |

The rotors may be OK, they tend to last through at least two sets of pads. But just like the pads you've got to inspect them regularly, at least every 10-15k miles. Preventive maintenance prevents problems that will otherwise cost you a lot more money.

Thanks everyone, I am technically not the original owner. I bought it with 6,xxx miles on it from a dealer. It was demo car at the dealer. I will take a look at the pads and see what I can see. Thanks
