HR sport spring vs KW DDC Plug Play coilover
The car is equipped with the M adaptive suspension. Currently have the HR sport springs 28832-2 which should lower the front and rear ends by 45mm and 30mm. The ride is too harsh. Cannot feel a difference between comfort and sport.
Im thinking of KW DDC Plug Play coilovers. KW DDC minimal lowering is: 25mm front and 35mm rear - can I expect a better feeling - less harsh during the ride ? - Is the KW DDC lowering the rear actually by additionally 5mm ? Actual picture of the rear fender x tire(255/40/18). Does not seem to me there is an additional 5mm space - at least I wouldn't like to decrease the gap. |

H&R springs are renowned for giving a harsh ride.
Before you make any changes I'd research the spring rates for the KW DDC versus H&R. Informed choices are better than blind hope.

Your experience with HR Sport Springs echoes the experience of others.
Since KW DDC PnP coilovers are being considered, your budget appears to be quite flexible. How would you describe your suspension improvement goals? There are several options in your budget range. |

H&R is lowering too much up front and is putting undue stress on the front half axles and increasing the possibility of the axles popping out.
Eibach spring rates will provide the best ride quality and lowering that will not cause harm. I recommend switching to Eibach Pro-Kit '5-22 with F80 bumpstops. https://www.eibachshop.com/index.php...-springs-bmw-3 here's a few threads with 5-22 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1901058 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1501682 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1892376 . I’ve just installed the KW DDC PnP on my 2018 f36. Ride is ridiculously smooth and comfortable. If anything, it could be firmer still for spirited driving. I mostly keep it in Sport + and can’t tell it’s anything unusual unless the road is fairly rough. The lowering control is also excellent, of course. I have it lowered a bit over an inch all around. I’m getting some creaking sounds I’m trying to resolve, and am researching if it’s advisable to swap in moderately firmer front springs, but otherwise am pleased.

so for my car there is the Eibach spring set https://www.eibachshop.com/index.php...-bmw-3-touring I assume this would give me a less harsh driving experience than H&R .
So debating if to go with this route and keep my current OEM dampers or to go with the KW DDC PnP set. Car has 80k km now. Not sure if the OEM dampers will last another 20k km... |
