TPMS iDrive Display

Hi All,

My new car 320i 18 plate has ID6 and TPMS which I've not had before.

I reset my tyre pressures as 1 had dropped below the threshold and after the reset the Bar Pressure on each tyre was shown but the values are lower than what I got from my manual gauge.
  • I had set the front to 2.2 and rear to 2.4 but on the iDrive it shows .2 Bar lower...is the iDrive a guide on pressure or should it be pretty accurate?
  • Secondly can I get the tyre temperatures on the iDrive?

Jason

1. Mine is pretty accurate and reflects pumped pressure. I suspect your manual gauge isn't good...

2. Yes, you can, but you need to code it. It is nothing you can enable from the menus.

Seems a bit more out than it should be .. could be the guage.
Mine are usually within 1bar of what my digital compressor shows.

First thing in the morning they will read lower due to the cold air in the tyres. Could it be that?

Update: borrowed a friends digital tyre inflator and the pressure display matches the car so my trusty gauge is off 😢 time to go shopping for a new toy 😃

The last two cars I've had the pressure shown in the idrive is 2 PSi lower than a couple of accurate gauges I have.

About the same for our cars vs my Michelin pressure gauge.

Three wheel sets presently with TPMS. I go for 0.15 Bar over by compressor, then deflate, if required, using the above gauge to 0.05Bar over by the gauge and cold temperatures by TPMS are still 0.1 Bar low.

However, the cars drive best like this and tyre wear is even.

Summer 19's are at F2.25 R2.55 Bar by gauge.

340i Touring as door card +0.05 Bar. Michelin Digital Gauge has a resolution of 0.01 Bar.

Winters are 18's and square.
So, running with F2.25 R2.65
Again 0.05 bar over the door card.

The 0.05 bar just gives a little grace for the cooler days and helps stop the run flat cold tyre bumpiness.

Wife's Mini has go-flats. But, the same +0.05 Bar seems to be beneficial.
