2014 BMW 335i

Hey, I just bought a 2014 335i M Sport this past weekend, the car itself is stock. I was wondering what are some cool things to do to the car that would make it look nicer, sound better, and perform better. The costs associated with your suggestions would be very helpful too. I live in LA, if that helps figuring out costs of everything. Thank you in advance!

Hey, congrats! Mine is also a '14 335i. There are seriously hundreds of things you can do in the categories you mentioned. Best way to start is to in this general forum, but also in the sub-forums for N55 engine, or suspension, or coding, etc.

You can see all of the sub-forums if you scroll down from the main f30 link:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/

If you take the time to do this, not only will you learn stuff about your car you didn't know it could do, you can better judge and prioritize any recommendations you get on other more specific questions.

Oh yeah...and post some pics!!

Wink

sweet ride mate...

Best way to buy these cars: after depreciation, you lose a lot less, and yet you still enjoy the car as if new, especially with such a good stock looking one.

Congrats and don't let this go to your head, it's just a car

Thank you! I won't get obsessed, but its cool to see such an active community behind these cars. I'm definitely loving the car so far!

Congrats, I actually bought my '14 Alpine White 335i M sport from Bob Smith last month too, almost just like yours. Mine was a lease turn in, previous owner put on carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, carbon fiber side mirrors & tint. So far I've added the M performance exhaust, M performance diffuser, stainless pedals, gloss black 403m wheels, carbon fiber M license frame and had it coded. Next I'll probably add the M performance front splitter (painted). Considering doing a resonator delete for a bit more exhaust noise. I've prioritized appearance over performance at this point, so it all depends on what you prefer and what kind of money you feel like spending early on. SoCal has the most auto vendors/enthusiasts in the US (in my opinion) so local purchase options are plentiful. Looks like previous owner of your car swapped out the front reflectors for painted white ones, which is a good mod to start with. Enjoy!

I should have added, would all of these things void the warranty I have with BMW?

Everything would be fine but you'd have to talk to your manager regarding the downpipe. Many dealers are mod friendly

Nice ride, congrats!

Again, I'm disappointed that no one is mentioning to swap your your RFTs. Then take a performance driving course, BMW school or otherwise. BMW Performance School is around $800. What's the point of all that power when you don't even know how to drive? Then suspension then tune.

Have fun!!!

Congrats!!

For better performance you need a tune

Are you planning on adding any other mods in the future (downpipw, intercooler, methanol, upgraded turbos, etc..) ?

Can you guys suggest a good tow hook license plate holder on amazon, that won't affect my parking sensors? I'm going to try and avoid putting a front plate for as long as possible, but I'd like to know what I need when I eventually put one on

I have this and it's adjustable to allow for parking sensor clearance. Works great:

If you don't already have a ratcheting 10mm wrench, you can get one on amazon for $10. It makes installation super easy.

He's talking about the tow hook holder. Those don't come with the car.

1. Summer tires
2. Stage 1 tune (MPPK vs piggyback vs ECU)
3. Upgraded charge pipe

Far and away the best bang for the buck with those 3 upgrades. Congratulations!

The short is answer is no, these mods won't void your warranty. Long answer is it's dealer dependent. If you have DP, stage 2 tune (ecu or otherwise), etc., and show up with a bent rod, it might be difficult to claim any warrantied work. My dealer, for example, doesn't care about my piggyback tune, oil catch can, or charge pipe for normal work and maintenance.
