Front bumper scraped - touch up or bodyshop?

Hey guys, unfortunately while I was parked in my garage at work, someone scraped my front bumper. No note was left, super frustrating but it happens and could've been worse. The damage totally scraped off the paint. I was quoted around $300 to repair this paint by one bodyshop in LA. I was planning to try to fix this /w touch up paint, but wondering if that may do more harm than good. Would you recommend touch up paint or bodyshop?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on your touch-up skills & how much of the collateral damage away from the major scrape will clean up. Unless you're using an airbrush the damage will probably still be detectable. $300 is about half the cost of refinishing the entire bumper cover here in the Wash DC area.

I think you can have a try on the touch up paint first. It is not easy to do it with a white color car. Youtube have a lot of guide to teach people how to fix scratches like that.

Spotrepair would be my choice, you’ll always keep seeing where touch up paint was used.
A good painter doesn’t need to respray the whole bumper.

Lookup Dr. Colorchip products.

I used their paint repair system on my Mazdaspeed 3 to fix damage similar in size and it worked really well. It took several applications of paint, then buff, but the total cost to me was $50. Its not perfect, but you cant even tell at 10 feet.

If you go the touch-up route, which I personally think will be tough with that large of a blemish, you'll want to use a sprayable applicator, not one of the touch-up brushes/pens. I believe you can find Alpine White (300) + Clear Coat in sprayable cans on Amazon

That looks like $300 well spent to have a body shop repair. touch up paint won't do a good job. I have had good results with dr.colorchip on rock chips. However, it doesn't work as well on scratches from my experience.

Go to a body shop touch up will never look right on that.
