801C20 error
I had a 801C20 check engine light come on. Bimmerlink said: Central Fault Memory Full
While it was in the shop for oil change they diagnosed it as a faulty thermostat. SA did some checking and found BMW had extended the warranty on issue so it was covered. Thanks go to BMW of Minnetonka. |

As best I can tell this code means the fault memory needs to be cleared, by clearing all of the stored error codes. It may be a number of old codes from multiple locations, it may be one code that keeps triggering repeatedly over a long period, like the thermostat. BMW sent out a letter about the extended thermostat warranty, I got mine in January 2018. You should periodically scan for codes and clear them, fixing them as required, and google 'BMW Technical Service Bulletin' to see if there are issues that you should know about. TSBs will include warranty extension information.
