Anyone wrapped their whole car?
getting ours done in the next month or two depending on when they can get the color shipped in.
I've never had any portion of a car wrapped, and just want feedback on positive and negative experiences. Going for a definitely non traditional color, will post pics then. Anything I should or shouldn't do in the time before it goes in to them for a week? Things like waxing it? I'll clean it before taking it in but I know they'll be detailing it better, but no point in taking them a dirty car. |

that's what I assumed, shouldn't wax it in the weeks prior to it going in, to save them the hassle of removing it. Bonus side of getting it wrapped is that you don't have to wax it at all.

Wax is a relic from the last century. Polymer sealants are what you want to use, and AFAIK you do use them on wrap. Your installer should recommend how to best care for your finish.

I've been using my 8? yr old bottle of Optimum Opti-Seal (it's almost empty) on my wrapped roof.

I use Jescar Power Lock. It's easiest when applied with a buffer, but you can do it by hand. I only treat mine once a year. When I used to wax it was once a month.

Does anyone know the estimated cost of a full warp on a 440 coupe on the tri state area? Looking for a ballpark number as I put together a budget for a new car.

OP, also note that more than one car I've noticed here has had their TCU and/or other things fail from water penetration through the shark fin, which apparently is removed to wrap. One thread from today noted that an installer failed to remove some foam tape which 'supposedly' let to water ruining his telematics control unit. Not sure it did, but just make sure the wrappers are aware and don't take shortcuts that could cost you thousands in a year.

Hmm
Wrappers are throwing deals right now for whole cars depending where u live, here in ny some are giving sales for as low as 1500 any color, but the usual wrapping prices are around 2-3k
Full paint job for a reputable is around 3-5k anything over 5k is rape and for extra profit I don't care what shop you have neither the experience you attained.. its my money that's feeding the business not your pockets. So be wary about shops that charge xxx amount for the "quality" they produce. Usual shops that be charging an arm and a leg only gets customers whose been loyal to them from the get go so they get grandfathered in discount, and or usually an employee whose getting some sort of discount or another business hookup. Make some friends in the detail business and ask around for discounts, just my 2 cents

Got people here in Long Island that was doing specials.. just ask around, and for the people who says anyone can wrap a car for that much apparently hates themselves or has no connections. You'd be surprised people will wrap cars for 1k if you know the right person. Then someone in nj doing it for around 1600-2k any color as well.

My other car is wrapped. It was done with 3m satin wrap which is a color shift. At the time, they also removed/painted all my emblems and grills. Cost was $3k, shop primarily works on high end cars (exotics, 100k+, etc...). Thats their clientele.
I got my wife's Macan paint protection done last year at a different shop. He saw my wrap and we talked. He explained the labor + material cost increases depending on what wrap you pick. If you go with a standard vinyl, it would be under 2k. If its glossy or metallic, it will be more as the material itself is more $ and it will take much more care/hours to do right. Just for reference, he offered to remove my existing wrap, switch to a new one even with the higher cost material for a good amount less than what I paid 3 yrs ago. Shop around but know the wrap you want! Most of these shops have pics posted on FB, IG, etc... to see their work. |
