Chassis Stabilization
Very frustrating day. Today I got another Chassis Stabilization: Drive moderately...message with loss of power steering, adaptive headlight malfunction. Last time it happened was a few weeks ago. Where I shut the engine off and restarted it and the problem CV cleared. Today was different as I had to shut off the engine three times before i could clear the malfunctions to drive home. Appointment with dealership tomorrow. Good thing the car is still under warranty.

I'm no help but I had a 330i loaner with less than 100 miles and I got that warning on it. Glad I haven't gotten it on mine.

Yea, this sucks. But, at least it's happening while the car is still under warranty. I've searched on line for others with the same problem and found that it could be the electronic steering unit, wiring, and steering rack. The two times this issue occurred for me was after rain. So, if it's not a coincidence, it seems that the problem is electrical related. Car's at the dealership now. I just hope they find something and fix whatever it is.

Good thing my car is still under warranty. However, a little while after the dealership gave me the update, they called back to tell me that they found a screw in my right front tire and that they will need to replace it before they can proceed with the steering rack replacement. $375 plus tax out of pocket.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?t=1454417# Interesting that you've mentioned this happening after rain ... I had a service appointment this past Friday, and asked my SA whether any error codes ever showed up again in the OBD log history - told me nothing was there, but that they are seeing a spike of reports on this particular error. They believe BMW is working on a service bulletin release and suspect a malfunctioning sensor [being very sensitive to moisture]. Hope this helps |

Got my car back from the dealer. They were able to pull codes:
D3244 EPS00000 90 003 EPS motor position sensor steering angle faulty. Replaced steering rack. Will see if this fixes the problem. It supposed to rain this weekend. Will update. Tire replacement was $367.54 |

Any Updates?
What was the consensus on the coding? I've read all the posts I could find on this chassis stabilization error as I've had my F30 throwing a P15DC code now for a few weeks.
I have purchased and installed the new ABS sensor for the rear left (code did not subside) so I swapped it with the other Side (Rear Right), drove around after clearing code and disconnecting battery and cleaning the areas where the ABS sensors read, with no luck. I need help brainstorming where I need to look and test as everything on my car is still in pristine condition, for 60k miles there is no wear and tear to be noted under the lift. I have to note that the ABS Chassis stabilization light came up during a rainy day. |

Are the front and rear tires worn significantly differently? IE are the front tires brand new and rear tires bald?
Unless that is the case it is almost certainly not the problem. Factory tolerance is 1% difference in circumference which pretty much allows an almost new tire on the front and a very worn tire on the rear or vice versa. |

bmw f30 restraint system error
I have a 2012 bmw 328i - f30 today I got a code "restraint system error" - I moved the passenger seat shut the car and started again and the code disappeared. This the second time this happens in one week . I just bought this car a month ago .
Previous owner changed the battery 3 month before sale at Bmw dealer . Any thoughts ? |

Please use the search and type "Restraint System Error". You will find other threads talking about that. It can be a simple reset issue. Otherwise, if you bought from a dealer you should have some warranty... at least one month. Good luck! |

I also looked to other forums I couldn't find any recent f30 . Most of them were under warranty so I felt it's useful to bring this back. Thanks again |

I know this is an old post/topic, but just wanted to let fellow forum members know I had the chassis stabilization malfunction error come on today for my 2013 F30 335i xDrive. After turning off the car for ~5 minutes, the error went away and hasn't come back yet. I believe the issue was tied to my battery.
I was trying to get my ODB to iPhone connector working for a BM3 tune, and one of the troubleshooting steps required the disconnection of the battery in the rear for ~3 minutes. I'm not sure how, but I believe once I reconnected the battery, some funky things happened. Anyhow, all fixed now and will report back if the error comes back. |

I had the same warning light on my 750, under warranty, the dealer said they couldn't figure it out. they said maybe anew battery, got one, still got the message. it dissapeared for a bit, then after warranty came back. they said tough, didn't know but could start looking and try to figure out. I searched other blogs, and one said low steering fluid..I checked steering fluid, it was low, topped it up and its fixed.
Check all your fluids if you get this warning! |
