Strongly suggest to get a dry sump or custom oil pan with baffle made. Or you will starve your motor on longer turns and blow a rod! Been proven and talked about in the racing section of this form and others like 1 and 2 series.

Actually a walk through of the install would be snazzy.... because I wanna do something like this ER Set-up https://www.vividracing.com/wm.php/i...-COOL001-2.jpg Cooling engine and transmission oil.

Gotcha ill do my best with the walk through lol I actually talked to the Bimmerworld racing team through email mentioning oil coolers, radiators, just the whole cooling system butttttttt unfortunately they had to change a whole lot obviously because their radiator, fmic, oil cooler was actually universal but didn't name the company ill screenshot pics of the convo also but they had a standalone ecu from bosch I believe, stockish turbo and 98 octane not so sure about that though. If you want to look up more theirs a article online 328i f30 bimmerworld racing team something like that lol

Heres the link actually lol: https://www.bimmer-mag.com/issues/12...2#.WxWAbBZlCEc

sorry, missed your post.. Installing an oil cooler was by far the best mod I've done with my car. You can push it really hard and the power does not back off like before (heat soak). Maybe its in my head but I can swear that It pulls stronger now. Like I got another 20whp. I need to do a dyno soon to verify this.

here is my post in the other thread:

It doesn't. It comes with a heat exchanger. It's no way near as effective as an aftermarket setup with a proper cooler.

Not exactly true. I believe the RWD, 6MT M sport cars do have an oil cooler, and it is the thing you circled in that pic. All other models send transmission fluid through the thing you circled and it is used as a transmission fluid cooler. That's just what I heard BS'ing with another F30 owner at a track day. He had an N55 though... idk that's just what I heard.

Then again... all these guys installing oil coolers are connecting it to the circled item in the pic... The more I think about it, I really don't know.

Mine is a 6MT Msport RWD. I circled the heat exchanger. It's only used for cooling the engine oil. Weather or not one can categorise that as an actual oil cooler I dont know, but It does a pretty bad job at it, at least if youre tuned.

Yah, so then I guess my above "speculation" fits with you. But either way, I'm sure it's lackluster at it's job, like you said, as an oil cooler or heat exchanger or whatever you'd like to call it, just like the FMIC. I'll have to do more research on the it being used for trans fluid as well on non-M Sport, AWD 8AT cars.
