Garage Air compressor

Hi All,
While I am on a DIY kick, I have been pondering getting an air compressor for the garage and build up a collection of air tools and some quick jacks.

What air compressors would you recommend or are using in your garage?

Depends on your use. If you’re using high demand tools such as saws, spray guns etc then you need to be looking at 12cfm minimum output and preferably 100 ltr tank, which were it starts to more expensive.
If it’s just tyre inflators, air guns and quick jacks that you mentioned then it’s not so demanding. A 50 ltr tank is a compromise between fill times and capacity. Most motors will supply the air output required but a belt driven compressor is quieter.
Be careful in the motor size as some 3hp ones are more suited to 16 or even 32 amp power supplies rather than the standard 13 amp

I’m currently using an old Stanley 25 ltr which works for most my requirements but struggles on keeping up with demand for the spray gun. I’ll be replacing it soon for an SGS 90 ltr 3hp soon but I have a 32 amp supply for my welder.

Thanks. It will probably just be things like an impact driver, the jacks, maybe a dremel type tool, so It shouldnt be too demanding.

Check the tools air consumption, something like a die grinder (dremel type thing) can have a reasonably high consumption so your run time will be limited.

I think unless you need an air supply for specific things such as paint spraying, I wouldn't bother with air, I'd go with battery powered tools.
