Life without craic would be a very dull life.

Personally I think the mix on this Forum is about right.

I do think the number of OT posts have massively increased but you don't have to read them or join in. Choice is a wonderful thing......

I, for one, am delighted our little ol' UK F30 forum exists.

I'm somewhere in the middle on this. I think it's good to have non-car related threads and banter, and most of it is light-hearted and fun. Nothing wrong with a bit of immaturity.

But very recently some of the political-related threads/posts in particular have titles/posts with nasty undertones - and most posters being pale, male, stale and typical views accordingly.

I'm a conservative but some of the views do make some people incl. me a bit uncomfortable. For e.g. starting a thread to express horror that Mohammed is most popular boys name in UK in 2015 should be on a far right political forum, not this forum.

I think one needs to understand that many use this as the forum to communicate with others, hence why we see off topics.

This is a community forum, I only read what is relevant and what I want to. No one is forced to read about someone "showing off" or political.

By you leaving will that change anything on the forum? Only loss is yours as the forum will continue.

For those that remember it BM3W was a bit like this forum, originally just for the M3 but it grew as its membership grew and added lots of sub forums, I know Bimmerpost all up has this for every model but it doesn't have the "homely" feel of a UK website on the main forums.

I think it would be a good idea to introduce some sub forums within this er.....sub forum.

But I like the OT posts and if you don't want to read them you don't have too! Although the politics can get a little heated on both sides sometimes, people are pretty friendly on here compared to PH!

All that and the various OT stuff do sort of keep the forum sane.

I guess we could have a go at just saying everything is nice.

There have been no real major personal attacks.

If people are a bit thin skinned ....

Let's face it, if you drive a 4 pot BMW, you are not a proper BMW driver, just a tight arse wannabe
Brigand, you missed Badged vs non - badged.

Meanwhile, far better banter in here than other forums, especially the one that (for car reasons, before anyone tries to come up with some smutty reason!) has recently become more relevant for Brigand and me - actually, on that note, can we have a 208 sub-forum on here?!

But seriously, plenty of off-topic fun and banter which is a good thing, and plenty of balanced views on non-bmw products, and honest positive and negative comments on bmws, too. Think all of that makes the 'slightly too far off-topic' stuff worth putting up with?

True, can you imagine this being like the Peugeot 208 Forum.

It is only car stuff, nothing else, problems, retro fitting stuff and mpg threads.

Also no sense of humour.

Forum is great, must be one of the most active areas of Bimmerpost?! Good balance of knowledge, standard repeating topics and banter. Some is offensive yes but pass by those I guess?

I just don't read any threads I don't like the look of. Life's too short to take it too seriously, this forum is a great resource and has been helpful to me. Yeah you get the occasional joker but variety is the spice of life and all that!

And at the end of the day....it's just a forum on the internet

So instead of just leaving you create another non-car related irrelevant opinion thread which should in theory get right on your own tits?

I am not fussed, read the ones I am interested in, relevant or not! Not interested in politics so don't bother reading them and won't complain about them either, as mentioned earlier on, you have a choice.

As has been the main comment, if don't want to read/join in, jog on to another thread.
I just wish our very dear friend and resident hermaphrodite NTG was around to see this thread, I'm sure he'd have something offensive to say

I dip in and say something occasionally, I'm sure I've even been helpful once or twice. But not a regular contributor like... well you know who is and who isn't. But I'm glad all these chaps exist, and share their world with us. I reckon I'd get on well with 90% of you in real life too!

Bought my car 2 years ago, but stayed on here despite learning nothing significant new about it for ages.

But I log in pretty much every evening to have a chortle at the various antics and banter and, oh I dunno, it just feels like a bit of fun. Occasionally something useful gets posted, but that's hardly the point now for me. It's a community I enjoy being part of.

Nothing ever upsets me on here, because if I strongly disagree with someone's opinion on something OT then I simply acknowledge they're entitled to that opinion and move on. I really have never wanted to disagree with anyone on here publicly, I have enough of that in my real world to start doing it as a leisure pursuit!

So I say leave it all exactly as it is. It's fine, really, it's fine.
