Outrageous!
I can't see it doing any harm and if it breaks then that's what a warranty is for!

I only like eco for the coasting really and yes in reality the whole process may save a pound or two of optimax but it keeps me occupied!

In eco around town and on A-B roads I notice the numbers. Hell, I even enjoyed it at one point seeing what the highest number was per tank and the anticipation star awards.

The highest I got was 36 extra miles to the tank.

Pretty much 28-36 over three full tanks.

I tested comfort and it seems that I use a little more fuel. Probably because it is more fun. The car feels broken in eco pro.

At the moment as my morning journey is quiet I use eco pro. I whack it in cruise on 50 mph and I gain 3-4 eco miles. On my way home, I use those miles accrued by using comfort mode.

Call it breaking even. It works for me though.
I get to enjoy the car and save a tiny amount on diesel.

I didn't specifically mention this aspect, but when I did my testing, I made 30+ miles "credit" per tank in eco, but in reality I always used more fuel on the alternate weeks in eco than I did the weeks I used normal/sport.

Without digging out the full post, just from my post-it notes which I've just spotted by the computer, the numbers I got were around 19.5 MPG in eco and 20 MPG in normal/sport.

At my end of warranty check (almost a year ago now), I had a full software update done and, since then, even with broadly the same driving profile, I'm now at 22.5 MPG most weeks using normal/sport. My driving is probably 50% town commute, 50% A road with very little motorway/dual carriageway.

Also, these are calculated MPG figures from full tank to full tank and not from the on-board computer.

I guess it's comparing apples and oranges... diesel vs petrol. I'd still have thought there would be some kind of gain on a 335i

I did expect some gains using eco, but didn't expect it to be worse... after all, it does sap driving pleasure, so there should be something it gives in return.

In any case, the F30 335i beats my E92 330i (272) manual as I only averaged 18 MPG in that over the 6 years I had it.
