I will donate 50p to Shelter for each 'Appreciate' of this thread

Most members of this forum work hard for what they have and as such have pretty comfortable lives.

Nice cars, homes and generally are in a good position in life.

As its Christmas I want to do something to help those who are homeless.

For every 'Appreciate' this thread gets until New Years Eve I will donate 50p to Shelter.

I will set a max of £250.

Happy Christmas

More than happy to donate to a good cause as I lay in a warm comfy bed safe and sound, I can't imagine what life on the street must be like and hope I never have to.

I spend money on anything I fancy and never give to charity so decided it's time to give a little bit back.

Definitely mate, if only rich people gave more of their money to those that need it rather than hoarding hundreds of millions of pounds, or even billions! I just don't understand why any one person needs that much wealth!

Btw my comment was referring to the fact that someone might have posted this thread on the main forum!

Good man. On a similar note me and the gf are contributing to a local food bank today. It saddens that these places have to exist.

Well done, great gesture!

My sister in law did the 'sleep out' event in Edinburgh a few weeks back in below freezing conditions. Took her days to thaw out, but think about the poor souls stuck in that situation.

The vast majority have just been dealt a sh**ty deck in life but some have suddenly fallen on hard times. Tragic either way....

We are very fortunate on here - we drive nice cars and likely live in a nice warm house but I agree with Teaston, in that the super wealthy could (and should) do far more. How much money does one really need???

Nice idea Jon

If you don't give money regularly then maybe it's something worth looking in to? Pretty easy to set up regular monthly direct debits, and you barely notice them going out.

Any money you donate can have the tax you paid to earn it claimed by the charity too, which really adds up presuming you're a higher rate tax payer.
