I was looking a for a cheap 335i exhaust for quite some time, but couldn't find one under $300, so I thought I will spent $490 more and get a 335i MPE instead

Eric and his friends at Canyon Muffler, Santa Clarita did a super awesome job installing it perfectly for a very reasonable price. Here is how my M Sport 328i looks. couldn't be happier.
Thank you TurboM for the idea!

Side note: the 335i MPE wasn't a bolt on to the 328i. The muffler shop had to weld their own hangers, do a lot of cut and weld on the exhaust pipes to align it right

hi all, I recently get the 335i muffler on my 328, but after the mid, the exhaust flap do not close anymore. I tried three flap controllers (the one came with 335 muffler, and mine original one and one that the muffler ship has), and the flap just don't close at all. Does any one have this experience and know how it make the flap function normally? Thank you!

For those of you that installed the 335i exhaust on the 328i, is your exhaust valve always open no matter what mode you're in?
I installed a m235i exhaust on my 228i (wrong sub I know). And it seems to stay always open after the initial 30 seconds after turning on my car. I hear it opening up and never closing if I go to Eco or comfort.

Quick question, I'm about to do this mod on my 320 base model.

I have seen a few videos of people opening the exhaust on the e92 M3 and replacing the perforated pipe with a regular one.

Does the 335 exhaust have the same type of piping inside?

Thanks in advance

The piping on the 335 MPE exhaust is 3"...not sure if the stock exhaust is the same but when I installed it on my 328 I had to create a bridge that scaled down 5mm.

A note that commonly seems to be missed throughout these install posts is the fact that (in addition to different diameters) the 335 exhaust doesn't 100% align to the original 328 pipe. Depending on how the shop marries the two you are very likely to get tips that don't center properly.

When I did mine yesterday i had to add a slight bend to my bridge...it allowed me to get optimal centering both vertically and horizontally. It took almost 20 minutes to get it right.

I didnt need new hangers like @socalr53 but as mentioned it wasn't a direct bolt on.

In my case I'm getting new tips and also need to cut a whole in my base bumper.

I suppose this could be seen as an advantage when it comes to fitment.

Got mine done too. Only concern i have now is the tips I ordered are aftermarket Akrapovich style. The 335i exhaust has those stubs which may prevent the tips from being placed in correctly. Has Anyone experienced this issue?

Probably only with the 328i since I did not have any issues with my 330i. Mine lined up and tips were center (340 MPE).

For anyone considering upgrading their 328/330 exhaust to 335/340 might as well spend a few bucks more and get the MPE... so worth it

So could you essentially get any axle back exhaust (i.e. Active Autowerke 335i) and install it on to the 328i?

Update: the tailpipe needed to be cut at the studs since they prevented non BMW tips (or at least my tips) from fitting. Overall, good look and sound.

Finally picked up my 335 exhaust yesterday.

I have a base 320i rear bumper.

My plan is to fit the exhaust with quad 4" tips.

Once it's all installed I will fit a 2015 WRX rear diffuser to the back.

Here are a few Pics, please don't judge my poor photoshop mobile skills.

People will judge you putting quad exhaust on a 320i, not on your photoshop shills.

No hate intended btw, just be prepared for haters
