Damned how I wished my government were like this. Our government in Malaysia be like " citizens are our subjects therefore they are subject to heavy taxation to quench our thirst for wealth & power,"

Korea has a socialized medical system, cheaper but not as good as the USA.

And BMWs were recalled in the USA for fire risk too. Took my car in not that long ago.

South Korea has excellent health care.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._of_healthcare

And to say that it's "cheaper" is a massive understatement. In Korea, if you get cancer or some debilitating disease and you are a legal resident of the country, you simply do not have to worry about your expenses. In the U.S., even with insurance, you could easily be paying $10,000 for a procedure. If you don't have insurance, you could very easily have to declare bankruptcy. Because you got an illness. Literally every single first world country (and many developing nations) have some form of universal healthcare, except the U.S.

Korea does have good healthcare. But most of the research, technology, and innovation occurs in the USA. One of the many things the USA subsidizes in the world.

The healthcare is "cheaper" because the government heavily subsidizes it and pays healthcare workers much less. I have a few friends who are physicians there and they tell me a lot about the problems they have (low pay, medical errors related to long hours, alcohol, etc.). Korea also has a much higher tax rate and cost of living compared to the USA.

Another reason why healthcare in USA is so expensive is because we too many lawyers who like to sue. So physicians practice defensive medicine that significantly adds to the cost. Korea and those other countries don't have to deal with that:

Those healthcare outcome rankings are misleading as well because they don't take genetics, culture, behavioral, and other factors into account.

Cost of living is definitely not higher in S. Korea.

You obviously haven't lived there! S. Korea has a much higher cost of living vs. the US national average. If you're comparing it to downtown Manhattan or the Bay Area, then maybe it is cheaper in Korea but as a whole, S. Korea is much more expensive to live.

Exactly, 2 Korean cities have a spot on the top 20 list of most expensive places to live in the world.
