Useful list of hidden features

Doublep has put together a very useful list of the hints, tips and hidden features documented in the very long 'cool feature' thread on the main forum. Thought it worth sticking the link here as it may be useful for new UK owners...

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...postcount=1480

Note that some features are region specific

This was a new one on me! Useful for solo drivers...

Buttons 1-8 can be extended to 14 preferences by assigning a guest profile on one of the buttons,
then in the guest profile, assign one button to go back to the main profile. Remaining 7 buttons will
offer you 2 x 7 preferences.

Thanks for this. I'll be trying out the press and hold to cancel the seat heating. Unmuting the stereo via the steering wheel also looks useful.

Brilliant.

The alternative is to read the manual - it's all in there!

Interesting

How can you get an analog clock to display on the screen ? I'd quite like that feature if available

Do you know... I always read the manuals. I realise that makes me less of a man and I apologise for my inadequacies.

In mine (iDrive5), its a standard option in the split screen (press right on iDrive controller, scroll down etc).

I only found it a couple of weeks back, so I wonder if it's new as I hadn't noticed it before?

Just checked and doesn't seem to be anywhere in the split screen options.

Mine is a 2012 CIC Pro Nav car so possibly its only the NBT and later units that have it

Please post if anyone knows a way it can be done on the older cars

I fear that I do the same - but some of this stuff really isn't in there.

Me too. Going through every page of the online manual was one of the things that got me through the order to delivery wait

Some of the items in the doc are not covered in the manual though, e.g. the 14 button trick.

Muting it using the steering wheel buttons would be much more useful, though.

Perhaps it works with the down button - will give it a try.

Lots of new members since I posted this, so giving it a bump as I found it handy in the early days of ownership.
