I keep looking at the line in the hood. It really irritates me.

Well said. I completely agree with every point. Overall, the F30 is a big disappointment, especially the interior. I keep looking at the dash and thinking "civic". It's so below the design and quality of the 5.

That being said, I do not know why they went cheesy with 3 variants and called them modern, sport and luxury. A BMW 3 series (and any BMW for that matter) should embody all these features in one single car, so I don't understand why they segregated them in this manner. I think it is plain cheesy of them and a poor management decision.

Exterior:

The way the lights extend and merge in to the grill is awkward and ruins the aesthetics of the front. No, it does not look mean; it looks awkward and unsightly. If they wanted to expose the grill, they could have done it in a better way.

Hood line should have extended all the way to the headlights and the grill instead of being cut off. That cut off hood line looks awful.

It does not make sense to have those badges on the side - Modern, Sport and Luxury. Terrible.

The fog lights and the surrounding fog light trim look cheap and plastic.

The rear lights are similar to a 5 series, but executed not as well, with the wedge cut off at the bottom inner ends.

Interior:

M Sport package with the body-colored line across the dash. Seriously? What is this? A VW Beetle? Or a luxury-sport sedan?

M Sport steering wheel - I am not driving a roadster here.

Navigation screen - badly executed. So much better in 5, 6 and 7 series.

Cup holders and covers - bad placement of cup holders, terrible finish on the cup holder covers.

I hope they do a better execution of the new 3 series coupe. I'll have mine with Sport, Modern and Luxury all wrapped in one, please, without a badge on the outside to tell me what the car personifies. I shall let the BMW badge do the talking. Thank you.

Thought exactly the same, these headlights and plunging good ruin the whole car! Can someone please call Bangle back?

Light beige steering wheel and seat belts?

The mid-90's Mercury Marquis look aside, those should stay looking nice and clean for a good solid month.

The new gauge cluster is put to shame by a mid-level Hyundai and the different font/dial graphics for different trim levels is just plain stupid.

I also like how the door pulls and map pockets seem now to bulge out into the cabin making for even less room and comfort.

I'm not a fan of the verbose side badges as it is, and thought someone should have been fired for putting the "XDrive" side badges on the X's... but this is beyond absurd. I would be embarrased to have any of those badges on my car. I'd have to bring the dental floss with me take delivery.
I agree 100%. I do not think the door sills should be badged either with "BMW Sport." Personally, I think M-Sport and M cars have WAY too many badges as well. (Don't even get me started on the 335is having its name in the trim!)

I think the F30 models should have ZERO badges on them and the M3 should have one on the trunk, one on each rim, one on the engine, and one the steering wheel. That's it.

Damn... is BMW ashamed of their cupholders lol...

Overall I like everything! I think the exposed grill will go the way of the mustache grill in the pre-LCI e90, aka it will be removed after the refresh. Not sure what to think about the steering wheel in the MSport... it's decidedly... unique...

I guess this is what we get after too many people complained that the e90 was as boring as a bucket of wallpaper paste, so BMW decided to be more daring with certain design elements (trim options, etc.) while retaining the safety net of what they know works well (rear lifted from the 5 series). Should be interesting to see what it looks like in person, as the super-photoshopped pictures BMW always release never really make the cars look good, or accurately portray them.

Having the drinks compartment there may be problematic if the car is a manual no?

Not a bad looking car, but what is with the 1 series dashboard? BMW did a complete copy and paste there

I think I am going to stick with my e92 for a while, unless this car looks absolutely fantastic in person, which it may. I doubt I will ever dig that interior though, might as well be driving a 1er.

The side badges are ridiculous and frankly a little douchey. I don't want a badge that says luxury on the side. Those will have to be removed.

Adrian van Hooydonk and the BMW management, please wake up. You are churning out one design disaster after another. The new 1 series and now the 3 series. Toyota classifies their cars in terms of Luxury, Sport, and whatever else.

Personally, I can't see myself in a car with badges like "Luxury", "Sport" or "Modern". Even Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar or Aston Martin don't water down their cars like this. They let the badge do the talking. When I'm driving a BMW, it implies I am driving a car that is sporty, luxurious and modern.

Please give me back a car like the E46/E92 M3. Now that was a BMW! Hardcore and without pretense.

Interior = Win. Apart from the colour coded strips.

Exterior = Much better than E90. Rear too similar to 5 series though and not a fan of the way the kidney grilles stick out. Also, it looks like they just stretched the headlights for the sake of it because the inner part is actually empty.

The range = I understand having a sport option and luxury option because that's what the C-class has. However, Mercedes have executed it better. The luxury one has the classic MB grille and the sport has grille + bodykit. As far as I can tell BMW have just stuck on some SLIGHTLY different bumpers, badges and little chrome accents. WTF? Also, why a sport model AND M-sport?
