BMW M Sport Brembo Brake upgrade retrofit
Hi all,
I recently picked up a front set of 340mm rotors with the unpainted grey callipers (planning to paint these anyway). So I am looking to fit these onto my car (430D), which are currently on standard discs rotors, I have reason to believe that these are 330mm (base M Sport)? If anyone could confirm/correct? I have phoned up a few garages (some national branches e.g. Formula one autocentre) and most would not touch them with the majority stating that I should not be fitting used brakes and subsequently strongly advised against it. I don't see the problem myself, personally. I'm sure many of you guys on here have done this? I've also tried two indies, also said no. One BM so claimed "specialist" suggested that it definitely needs coding, which they can't do. I did not anticipate that it would be hard to locate someone willing to fit? I was under the impression that this would be a straight forward swap/bolt on job? Lastly, will this need to be coded as I have seen conflicting articles on the internet... some saying coding is not required and some saying it is essential? Could anyone shed some light on this topic? Surrounding fitting used brakes and the coding element. |

The 340mm Brembo set up for the fronts on a standard 330d brake set up are plug and play mechanically. I had them fitted when i got the BMW power kit fitted. I'm not sure about the coding, but i think it is only required when you fit the larger kit with the blue calipers front and rear.
