Software version numbering...and updates

maybe these are noob questions, but couldn't find the answers.

- My software versions start with MN & TN, but I've seen others that are MX & TX. Why?

- I downloaded and updated my software several months ago and it fixed a weird Pandora problem I was having. My current versions are both 003.003.001. So I go check for updates today and the readme doc says the versions are 002.xxx. Does that mean the one that's on the site right now is older than what I have? What's up with that?

Document from today...

Yep - the site's software is older than what you (and I) have in our cars. Pretty goofy, huh?

But...I downloaded what's on the car now from the update site several months ago, and installed it myself.

??

Makes even less sense. I'm gonna go plug it in and see what happens...

Got "not compatible" message, so assuming that what was on the USB stick was older than what was in the car.

Unless I'm crazy, BMW had a newer version months ago, and now there's an older version?

Could be that MX/TX is related to CIC iDrive Version and MN/TN is related to NBT iDrive Version.

I've just seen, that E90 Forums talk about MX/TX Version update and those cars didn't have NBT iDrive, whereas early F3x had CIC until NBT faced in in 2013 produced cars.

I think OceanView has the right idea.

The 1st letter stands for Media or Telephone. The 2d letter is for the head unit model with X being for CIC and N for NBT. On my car I have MN & TN.

Comletely agree with Otay, the iDrive update site is a disgrace; it is sadly out of date and really quite goofy in the way it is set up.

So if my system version starts ME and TE what does the E stand for?

Its not EVO for sure.
Its a 2014 320i (production 11/2013)
Its probably CIC no Nav.
The annoying thing is that it feels like its a special downgraded version for my country as we have many times on other products.

And if thats the case how can I flash a firmware that is more standard?...
