Very nice looking car. Probably the best combo of good looks and practicality in a mid size car.
I like the blonde product manager as well - Cherry on top indeed. |

Why wound some by a 3-series over the 4 GC? Make a M version of the 4-GC and kill the 3-series.
Stop diluting the models and concentrate on the core products that make BMW what it is.

God they love that word. Reminds me of "cloud" in the IT industry. Everything is cloud. Networking? Cloud. Virtual servers? Cloud. Web app? Cloud. So obnoxious.

The extra length and longer boot really would improve the design. I like

Does this mean BMW will make 3 series Coupe now?
4 series 2 door and 4 series 4 door. 3 series 4 door and 3 series 2 door. WHY NOT?

It looks like a lowered 3GT with the hatch squashed a bit, which makes it look much better than the F34. I just did euro delivery on a 3GT in December and am awaiting redelivery, so I'm not opposed to the F34's looks anyway. I've seem some suggest 4GC will cannibalize 3GT sales, but I see it cannibalizing F30 sales (particularly highly optioned ones) much more. I can't speak for other F34 owners, but I know my decision to go with the GT was predicated mostly on added space and utility (nearly on par with an X3), and the fact I can't make myself enjoy driving any SUV. The 4GC does have the hatch for some added utility, but offers no more cargo room or interior space than a normal 3er sedan. Had they thrown the 4GC on a long-wheel base like the GT to give it more interior space, it would have been EXACTLY (GT is closest thing available but I wish it was same ride-height as F30/F31) what I was looking for, so I suppose I'm glad they didn't do that.
If I found myself looking for a midsized sedan in the $50K ballpark to replace my e90, I don't think I would even be considering F30 over F36...The F36 has a more refined and sporty look, and with lower COG and higher body stiffness will probably drive better too. The F30 may have tough sledding against the 2015 B9 A4 and W205 C-Class anyway, so BMW is wise to put out something fresh to compete with those releases.

What is being diluted? Through this platform engineering approach, BMW can put a car in the garage of more people because they can build models with narrow appeal for a fraction of the cost required to develop an all-new car. I think this 4GC is a total home run. It's sexier looking than a 3 series, smaller than a 5 series, and they did the hatchback thing a lot better than Audi did, to my eyes.

BMW is going to stop sending cars here if you don't all stop acting like petulant children. "Wahhhh...too many choices. Wahh...it's not like the old one. Wahh....they changed the numbers. Wahh...it's not a true M." Same thing here every day. I question how many of you are actually enthusiasts and how many just like to b*tch here when you've tired of doing it on Facebook.

& mattu. I see your points here and agree it will give buyers who are optioning up 335i's more to think about. It will canibalize some sales but as someone who just purchased a almost loaded 335i I don't see me getting the 4GC had I had the opportunity. While it is nice, I'm not much of a hatchback person and that extra 2k is still an extra 2k.

Kind of surprised an executive as high up as Poloma would wear jeans to that video… Even the guy from Design put on a suit and tie!

Does anyone know anything about rear legroom???
If it's AT LEAST the same legroom as the f30, I'll get one. My kids are both young so headroom doesn't matter, and I love the aesthetics and the utility of the hatch... |

Anybody willing to venture a guess when the earliest ED deliveries for a 4GC could be arranged? 435i GC in carbon black with red interior and 403M wheels looks rather tasty.
