The LCI has the B48 engine.
The power output is 135 Kw. That converts to 181 bhp and 183.5 PS (rounded up to 184 PS)
I don't know why the current BMW car configurator is showing 184 HP... that is wrong! It should be 181 HP or 184 PS
O

See the attached
Latest 3 series brochure shows 181 HP and 290 Nm for the manual. This corresponds with the auto magazines saying the B48 has more torque than the N20 engine.
Attached torque/power graph for B48
My order form shows it is a 3 series B48
Car check online shows 181 HP when I enter my reg no.

All LCI petrols are fitted with the B48/B58 engines

How odd, just checked the brochure and yes shows 20nm lower torque on the auto 320i but the 330i is a single figure (350nm) as is 340i which is 450nm. Wonder why they have done that on the 320

Think there is a change to piezo injectors on the B engines. I'm just getting to grips with the implications for us, and other tuners, at the moment.

To be honest their figures are all over the place since the LCI was released. I have sent an email to BMW customer services asking them why they cotinue to market it as 184 HP when it obviously is 181 HP. Even in the current 3 series brochure the part about the engine says 184 HP but the spec says 181 HP There are also other anomolies surrounding torque. The BMW configurator is still showing 184 HP too.

It sounds pretty minor, but they should have it right especially when inroducing new engines.

I too have a 320i (2012) i get an average of 38mpg , it was up to 40 mpg a few months ago.
I am generally pleased with it though when i first got it i had very bad pains in the leg and back but i am very picky (?) about seat positioning.....so bad i wanted to change the car...its ok now but it took over a month to get used to it.

Yes that has been a problem for me too. I have another active post about retro fitting lumbar support. I do regret not picking it as an option. I drove home from work today and adjusted the rake of the seat. I may of had it angled too high at the front effectively tipping me backwards into the seat. The seats backs seem too flat and missing a lumbar bump to promote good posture. That's what I hope to improve with the inflatable support I have ordered.

I did test drive a 335i, but under normal driving conditions the difference wasn't enough to justify the additional cost and running costs. I am very pleased with it, great car and easily achieves over 40mpg on the motorway, not bad for a car that does 0-60 in sub 6 seconds.
seriously, 40 mpg, you're driving 100km/h with 300 hp? but at least you do it on the fast lane, right?

This was a 4 year old thread of mine resurrected.

After 3 years and 7 months of owning my 320i M-Sport LCI RWD Sports Auto (with M Sport plus pack) I part exchanged it for a pre registered (new) 420i GC M-Sport LCI RWD Sports Auto (with M Sport plus pack). Same 2.0i petrol B48 engine, same auto gearbox. Wouldn't have done that if I didn't rate the engine!

Done 8000 miles in my current car. Sill getting an average of 38 mpg, and a trip to Liverpool and back on the motorway, 220 miles I averaged 53mpg.

I loved my 3 series. I really love my 4 series GC.

It's a bizarre bump and a bizarre 1st post.

B48 high five 🖐

I hope my first post makes more sense than this guy's first post

Just read this thread and found it interesting because I'm wanting to switch my F32 coupe for a F36 Gran Coupe (for the hatch boot and rear doors). Like the OP I only cover 8,000 miles a year so for the first time considering a petrol. Currently in a remapped 430d.

Bought a 320i M Sport just as they had finished production (got a great deal!!)

Having loved the car over the past 18 months and having covered 36000 miles I have to say it is the best car I've ever owned. I was offered a 340i for the same monthly cost but decided running costs would have been too high for me personally. There have been times where I have wanted a bit more power but them 95% of the time it is perfect.

I might go for a remap, the figures out there seem to be very impressive and hard to say no to! The only mistake I made was not getting the touring!!

Had mine for 6 months now and wholly agree. 95% of the time it's all the car you need and 0-60 is just over 7 seconds, so it's not a slouch by any means. Can still have a lot of fun and pulls very well for B road fun.

I don't drive enough to justify a 340i, even though it'll give that thrill for the other 5% of the time and I'm sure would sound amazing.

Depending on where you are, Unicorn Motorsport developments in the north west or BW Chiptune in west London are the best retuners I've found - looking at around 270bhp and 440Nm of torque with a stage 1. Both have confirmed this and run custom maps for your car on a dyno and take the time to get exactly what you want.
