Move from 330D to 340i

Thinking about selling my 2014 330D Sport and buying a 340i Sport

Can anyone explain the exhaust system during the age range 2015 - 2019

I see some used cars with what looks like carbon tips and so without

What is the deal with the mppsk system, did it ever come standard or can it not be fitted after a certain year ?

If the mppsk isn't an option any more what is a good replacement system ( after market )

Sorry for all the questions but trying to get my head around what age and spec car I need to look for

Thanks all

First of all do it!
mppk was an option on any 340 bar the very recent ones I think due to petrol particualte filters.
mppk came with chrome or carbon tips.
If you get a 340 and am waiting for an mppk (assuming you can still buy one) unplug the left flap in sports mode to get more noise.

I went 2015 330d to 2018 440i.
The engine really is something else. Not got the low down 6 cylinder diesel torque, so it requires re education of the right foot, but after a week or so, you will never look back. The top end is smile inducing in a way the diesel will never match.
I didn't bother with mppsk, as I don't think it needs anymore power, and the sound is nice already. Also can't be arsed with the insurance stuff. I do like the CF exhaust tips however, so am tempted work that mod.

Yep, if you're looking to get a 340i and have the MPPSK fitted then as others have said, get one built before the end of June 2018 as PPFs were fitted after that. Also note that if you want Apple CarPlay (or the option to add it) avoid early 340i's (e.g. late 2015) as they still used the ID4 system.

MPPSKs are still available new from around £1,400. Some dealers have been known to take a couple of goes at getting the necessary software update right. MPPSK sound will improve with age, after about 10K they become a bit more fruity and bass'y (well that's my experience). Other known issues are bolts needing tightening/re-adjusting to stop rattles. Insurance hikes for the MPPSK vary depending on your insurer, for mine (LV) it was about £60 extra.

Definitely one of the best OEM upgrades available for the F3x B58 engine
