Recently picked one of these up for my F21 running Ksw-Q-Userdebug_OS_v1.4.7 (4GB / 64GB / msm8953)
MCU version is 023052dGS-NBT-GTH-191127-B18 Unit works great, but just curious if there is a way to have it boot to a normal Android home screen rather than the BMW styled one? I'd much rather just have a grid of a few apps I frequently use. To be honest I only really use CarPlay so having it just boot to the AutoKit app would be useful. Also, is there any documentation for the factory settings? I'd love to know what all the options are doing under the hood. Finally, is there any real benefit keeping it up to date, or does the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule apply here? |

yes, it's absolutely possible to connect an android HU to your current setup. Based on the manufacturing year & part number, you have the NBT EVO HU entry (no navigation, no enhanced bluetooth), so you'll want to order an Android EVO HU. It's plug and play, just make sure to let the seller know that it's an NBT EVO HU you have so he'll spare you having to configure the HU yourself. Last edited by zatelli; 05-23-2020 at 03:26 PM.. |

So i have just upgraded from android 9 to 10 and also 1.5, i now however experience very bad sound quality issues and the sound from the unit is really low. I also hear a very bad white noise when turning the volume louder.
Anyone have had similar problems with this? |

Settings/factory/boot: always android side. Put the Autokit app over all: settings/andriod settings/apps ¬ifications/autokit/advanced/display over other apps (display on top) |

Set it lower below 30, better to about 20-25. In return set the AUX Volume of your OEM Headunit higher. Kri Last edited by Kri; 05-26-2020 at 12:06 AM.. |

After doing some test with a new batch of microphones, I think I found satisfying middle ground between OEM mic and crappy one built into the Android unit. First batch was a disappointment... I opted for 2V 2.2K Ohm, omindirection, unidirectional and noise cancelling microphones - all of them were too quiet, barely audible so I decided to get a new batch, this time I opted for 1.5V 680 Ohm and 2.2K Ohm versions.
Here are the results: The worst out of these was AOM6738LR omnidirectional 1.5 2.2K Ohm which sounded like the stock Android mic. When car was stationary, it was bearable but as soon as I started picking up some speed, it was just white noise. Third place ANM5254LR noise cancelling 1.5V 680 Ohm mic. Sound quality was good but it was barely audible so I wouldn't recommend that. Second place is POM3546LR omnidirectional 1.5V 2.2K Ohm mic. Just slightly lower volume than the best mic in this batch and this one is favouring high tones little bit too much for my liking. First place goes to AUM5047LR unidirectional 1.5V 680 Ohm mic. It was loud enough to have a conversation, noise levels were minimal - both from stereo and wind noise at high speed. This is my Android's PCB layout for mic amplification components where the original mic connections were soldered. If yours is similar you should have the same results as I did. |

Thank you! This actually does help with the Quality. However when it turn the music loud and it pauses in between songs, there is a substantial amount of static grain / noise, any idea on this?

Every time I take/make a phonecall my phone automatically picks up the Android connection. I have to manually switch to OEM. Very annoying Isn't an app available on Android which define what Bluetooth connection should be used? |

For each device connected via Bluetooth you can select whether you want to allow phone calls, contact sharing and media streaming or not. |
