This is still my favourite, first one I mentioned and goes very well with bbq food.
Very soft tannins and silky smooth, while being dark and heavy.
I can't stand light red wines, taste like vinegar to me, even expensive ones.

Personally I like Grenache-based wines such as the ones I mentioned and includes more well known ones such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Thanks, I haven't come across that but I like Languedocs generally so I'll give it a try.

Not sure why light reds should taste bad unless you're pairing with heavy food, or you smoke?

Same here! Was the UK supplier for the 'Seleccion Vinedis' variety of El Coto?
So far I've only found this in Spain

I've no idea, I don't smoke and like white wine. I'm no wine buff and I've only got to know that's the type I like through trial and error.

This being in the house every day really has upped my wine intake which while nice isn't good for the body or wallet really!

Well there's plenty to choose from so as long as you find some you like I guess the rest don't matter. And I know what you mean about being at home, I'm going to have to cut down a bit to get in training for the possible restart of commuting.

Thanks for the suggestions, gives me some new wines to try and hopefully add to the list of wines i like

Had some Zonin Montepulciano D'Abruzzo last night and that was good, not as good as the Campo Viejo Rioja Gran Reserva but still nice.

Where is the best place to order wines online other than amazon? and do you have any White wine suggestions? i tried the 19 crimes Chardonnay awhile ago, it was ok but found it to be very dry

Not sure if this is a good idea / value:

Only been into red wine for a few years, after some recommendations

So far the wines that i like and keep buying:
  1. Campo Viejo Rioja Gran Reserva - Favorite so far, expensive but very good imo
  2. Faustino I Gran Reserva Rioja - good but prefer the Gran Reserva
  3. Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo - go to cheap-ish wine
  4. 19 Crimes Australian Red Wine - Shiraz - also good

recently tried
  • Wolf Blass Yellow Tail - Which was ok
Try any one of these and you won't be disappointed:

God knows why that's tilted, I can't find an option to correct it. Anyway, I have the WSET L3 qual and used to work for a small company running wine tastings in my spare time and these are the Riojas we used to use. I was never really a fan of the stuff until I did my WSET and then tried this particular wine, now have it all the time. In fact I had some Gran Reserva yesterday afternoon with lunch (sourdough bread and chorizo cooked in a grill pan, olive oil, a little garlic, rocket and home made mayonnaise. Glorious.)

I like my whites like my reds - French. Try a good Chardonnay like Chablis or Montagny, plenty of good Cote du Rhones, Sancerre, Bergerac. For seafood there's Muscadet or Picpoul de Pinet.

That reminds me to get some Sancerre in for the summer. Delicious and outpunches many a red.
