Now on to a bit more detailed feedback; I'm using my car for enjoyment as well as ferrying the family around, vacation, weekends etc like most of us, so not a hardcore track car. First I find the BM3 platform per se is great, it's been said multiple times but worth mentioning again, it makes it easy to manage maps, switch maps, customize maps, have a realtime dashboard on the iphone, as well as do some datalogging. Short story: Back in April I decided to get a custom tune (non BM3), as there was no map for AH3 out yet, however I still wanted to have bm3 as a platform to be able to switch maps, monitor the car, do some datalogging... an AWRON display isn't less expensive than a BM3 license... Setting up was fairly quick, my ROM wasn't yet supported by BM3, so logged a support ticket, and they added support overnight so I could save my stock tune the following morning which was great. Then back from my tuner I could also store my custom tune in BM3 by using the "DME Read" function which is really nice too, because not only can you call on to the BM3 tuners registry but to virtually anyone who can make a custom tune, BM3 or not, and retain the ability to switch maps. And around here few tuners know about bm3 (or mhd). The other reason I wanted to get BM3 *and* a custom tune was about monitoring and logging: I want to have all parameters logged in realtime and at home, and BM3 is great for that too, i was missing that after I had sold the JB4 for which I had got the bluetooth extension. and to me tuning requires that you keep a close eye on the engine parameters, at least at the beginning so you understand what happens. About that custom tune, I was ok with it, more power but not so much more torque on the high rpm band unfortunately, they mentioned fueling issues with HPFP. And I had a nagging issue with throttle closures, seemingly due to maxing out gearbox supported torque in 6th gear (my diagnosis) around 2200rpm which I really hated. But the map was otherwise smooth. Fast forward to this summer, and recently we had the EWGZ-AH3 map available in BM3 so decided to try it out, since I was back from holidays and could afford to have the car stuck for a while if things went wrong. So went on to flash Stage 2 93 octane. Again the platform is really good, the flashing process is really easy, and from what I see it can manage to resume failed flashes so I quickly gained confidence. At first I've been using my laptop but also built my Raspberry Pi agent in a couple of minutes with a $50 RPI3 from amazon, which was also super easy, I was a bit reluctant to flash from the iPhone at first but now I'm switching maps very conveniently without lugging the laptop around, about 2 mins without a battery charger. Just take good care in observing the instructions, ignition on/off/on 3 times before flashing to prep the DME, off for 20-30s after that and it doesn't fail. The only time I had to do the "online recode" was when I did not carefully respect the 20s off after flashing. And my map switches failed a couple of times when I was not careful enough to do the ignition on/off/on. Now about the tune in itself: First flash with OTS map the car ran apparently good: dramatic increase in power, but the car also *sounded* differently, deeper, rougher tones. Torque is much increased too, particularly when already rolling and you want to overtake this thing accelerates so quickly it's insane. And strangely, no throttle closures or fueling issues to report... FWIW, I logged a few "knock detected" events without any plausible cause, and later logged the same events, and these showed on stock tune as well, sometimes just when reaccelerating, sometimes when switching off the engine to pure edrive, so seems to show that this indicator isn't that reliable, or that it has adaptations to learn that were not yet in place. A few codes were also thrown related to the electric drive, but they actually appear right after flash, I believe BM3 doesn't clear codes in that particular ECU after flashing because it's not present on other cars than hybrids. After flash, cleared codes and they did not come back. I had a not great experience with custom boost by gear last time, where idle RPM was fluctuating and it threw a related code; I wouldn't advise using this on our edrives but the standard boost by gear is fine apparently. Only issue I had is the DME tamper code that is always present, I understand if I flash back to stock and lock DME it should go away but it's also an issue for me, just in case of issue happens it just makes it obvious there is a tune that any diagnostic can pickup, whereas my custom tune managed to get rid of it. Anyway, I'll try to find time for a clean pull to confirm my findings with logs but so far i'd say it's looking good. Now I want burbles enabled on the map! Halim@PTF can you do something about it?

Hi guys, I'm new here, also part of the AH3 club.
My car is completely stock, I've been running the Stage 1 93Oct tune for a couple of days. So far no CEL, no other errors, the car pulls like a monster now, so much that I'll probably need to upgrade my wheels / tires setup bbecause I don't have enough traction in 2nd and 3rd gear when fully opening up. That being said, the curse of no burbles is real - Halim from proTUNING Freaks is trying to sort this out, I've received a custom test map yesterday, which unfortunately did not work, so I guess this will be a little back-and-forth until we get this right. I'll post as soon as we get somewhere. |

Are you ewg or pwg (is your car build date before or after 07/2013?) What tyres do you have at the moment ?

Thanks !
PWG, build date 08/2012. I believe it's one of the first AH3s built, it was originally shipped as a press test car The car is on 245/45/R18 Michelin PSS |

Stock tune is well adjusted to the grip of standard tyres indeed, stage 1 and above we feel the backend trying to escape

I had the same code come up and it was my coil packs. So I bought all new spark plugs/coil packs and replaced myself. Super easy job! |

My bad I misread the code, you're right it is the auxiliary battery. I am currently needing to replace mine! Seems like everyones goes bad around the same time. |

Good news Lancelot - Halim from proTUNING Freaks sent me another map today and this time, the burbles work finally !
I expect the OTS map to be updated now to include these burble settings so we can configure them. Crappy video attached, I'll make a new one with GoPro once I have a bit more time on hands: |

Nice!
Halim also sent me a test map earlier today for something else, i was having idling issues, they seem to have gone now with that test map. great to see we're getting good support for our cars!

Finally managed to do a couple of 3rd gear pulls, the first 3 seem OK doing 16psi
Last one I see much lower boost/boost target? -edit- Could it be that with the IAT getting hotter the boost targets reduce significantly? First run IAT was 80F, 4th run IAT was 98F before WOT then gradually reducing to 86 with speed? run 1 : http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b8bd100d10b43260fef3674 run 4 : http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b8bd75dd10b43260fef3682

You need to ask Halim to check for an expert advice.
With my limited experience I can see throttle closures during boost buildup probably because of overboost (boost pressure exceeds target) and that triggers throttle closure if i understand correctly. Or the gearbox torque limit is reached, but I don't think so. What RPM range is a problem or you? If I read correctly, the issue is at 3089 rpm on your first log? 2nd log however I can't see throttle closing? Any codes showing in bm3?
